VC students earn Seal of Biliteracy for English and French

Four Vermilion Catholic High School students have earned the Seal of Biliteracy for proficiency in English and French.
The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by a state department of education in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in English and one or more other world languages by high school graduation. Louisiana is one of thirty states that awards the Seal of Biliteracy, which was approved by the Louisiana State Legislature in 2014.

Four Vermilion Catholic High School students have earned the Seal of Biliteracy for proficiency in English and French.

Celebrate Local Horticulture in Abbeville

When we think of sights and sounds in South Louisiana, most often what pops in our heads is food and music. It’s an inseparable combo in the land of jazz, gumbo, and crawfish – and it’s probably the main reason most festivals are named for the delicious rhythms and edibles the Bayou State has to offer.

But Louisiana’s location offers something more unique than the food and music, but just as pleasant on the eyes and nose. Sub-tropical climate, with plenty of sun and rain, gives Cajun country a real step-up when it comes to gardening and horticultural offerings.

Campbell celebrates 98th birthday

Elvina Campbell of Abbeville, recently celebrated her 98th birthday with family. She was married to the late Milton Campbell. She has five children, the late Milton Campbell, Delores Meaux, Gail Collins, Chris Campbell and Larry Campbell; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grand grandchildren and 44 great-great grandchildren.
