Midland punches ticket to Top 28

MIDLAND – The ability to put points on the board has been a strong suit for the Midland Rebels the entire 2009-10 season. But it was their aggressive style of defense that sparked the Rebels to their biggest victory in years Friday night.
The Rebels forced 28 turnovers in their Class B quarterfinal-round matchup with Hornbeck and turned a number of those into points in defeating the Hornets, 63-46, to earn their first Top 28 Tournament berth since 2004.

Festival of Life 'once-in-lifetime' opportunity

CROWLEY - The Acadiana Festival of Life, a Harvest Crusade to win the lost for Jesus Christ and help establish them in a local church where they can grow in grace, learn to serve and determine the Lord’s perfect will for their life, will be held March 14-17, 2010 at the Acadia Parish Rice Arena in Crowley. The crusade kicks off nightly at 7 p.m. except for student night which will be held Monday, March 15 at 6 p.m.

Crowley revival to focus on city, region's spiritual needs

Christian Life ends Bears' run

GUEYDAN — Gueydan Bears head coach Paul Saporito knew going in that his team faced a sizable challenge Tuesday when it played host to No. 1 Christian Life in the regional round of the LHSAA Class 1A playoffs.
“They are number one for a reason,” Saporito said.
Christian Life showed that Tuesday night.
After a hoop from the Bears’ Trevor Derouen made the score 9-6 midway through the first quarter, the Crusaders charged to a 11-0 run in the span of less than two minutes and never looked back in a 91-36 win.

Husband, wife bagged on deer charges

Internet photos helped Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents arrest two Coushatta residents for deer hunting violations on Feb. 18 in Natchitoches Parish.

Husband and wife Donald and Tonette Mason were each cited for failure to comply with the deer tagging requirements. Tonette was additionally cited for taking over the daily limit of deer.
