Members of the Country Daisies presented a check to the Vermilion Honor Guard to help with expenses for their attendance at the funerals of deceased veterans. Presenting a check to the Honor
Guard Ewell Hargrave for his unit were Daisies President Lee Simon and members Lou Touchet, Joyce Freeland, Jane Simon, Lena Touchet and Corinna Stelly.
Marvin Munchrath hosted a hunt and showing their bagged birds were his guests Chuck Leien, Astronaut Dr. Jim Reilly, “Trey” Reilly, Dwight Munchrath, and Greg Munchrath.
Robinson-Taber nuptials claims local interest
The wedding of Ashley Renee’ Taber and Vaughn Dell Robinson was a candlelight setting in the evening at the Lake
Arthur Community Center January 23, 2010. The Reverend John Dartez, also uncle of the groom, officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gloria Taber and the late Richard Charles Taber of Gueydan. She is also the granddaughter of Willa Mae Potier and the late Robert Potier of Kapan and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest C. Taber of Cameron.

Chosen as members of the Honor Band from Gueydan High School were Sarah Petry, flute; Angelle Venissat, flute; Leah Wiggins, trumpet; Rusty Venissat, baritone; Philip Broussard, tuba; Bryce Smith, baritone; and Molly Trahan, bass clarinet. GHS Band instructor was Madeline DeHart.
Chosen Employee of the Month at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home was Monica Baker, Dietary Manager. Presenting the award was Director of Nursing Marie Gese.
Who gives them the right to do those things?
I was old enough to hear and understand President Roosevelt’s speech to the nation when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. I remember the speech almost word for word. I also remember visiting the World War II Pacific Monument in Arlington Cemetery, but at the time I didn’t notice the engraver had left off the last sentence of Roosevelt’s message.
I was made aware of it in a letter from a war veteran, and it does make me furious! I’m sure what he says is true, and it was done purposely -- no accident!

Spotlighted in the Gueydan Journal tab “Women of Gueydan” were Jan LeJeune, Nancye Duhon, Patsy Woods, Patti Gayle, Peggy Suire, Althea Williams, Angela Touchet, Dot dePerrodil, Earline Cormier, and Beverly Baker.
Cedric Benoit, Kaplan native, was taking his band to perform in Branson, Missouri to give the Missourians some Cajun Culture for Mardi Gras.
