Truck used to steal ATM from Gueydan store

GUEYDAN — According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, at approximately 2:25 a.m. on May 1, patrol deputies were dispatched to Loignon’s Grocery in Gueydan, due to someone crashing into the store and stealing the ATM.
Upon arrival, deputies were also notified that a damaged Dodge pickup truck was observed in a field off Elliot Road, Gueydan. Upon locating the vehicle, the ATM was observed broken into in the bed of the truck, along with building material from the store; it was also determined that the vehicle had recently been stolen.
Detectives were called to the scene and the investigation is on-going.
