Joanne F. Andrus
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church - Maurice for Joanne Foerster Andrus, 86, who passed away on February 26, 2024.
Fr. Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Entombment will take place in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum.
Mrs. Joanne, a resident of Maurice, was the daughter of the late Conrad Foerster and the former Mae Lucille O’Keefe. Joanne was born, raised, and a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She taught science at Mount Carmel & Mother of Mercy for over 20 years. Joanne even went back to school after retiring and earned her nursing degree. In 2001, she moved to Maurice, following Sid’s retirement. Joanne was an avid Saints fan all her life; she even had season tickets back when the Saints played at Tulane Stadium! She loved Mardi Gras and was very involved with the Mardi Gras Association of New Orleans; Joanne also served as a maid of the Krewe of Carrollton. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her!
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Pierre Sidney Andrus; brother-in-law, Paul Sheldon Andrus (Mary Dolores); brother-in-law, Harold Lachaussee; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Mae Lucille Foerster; sister-in-law, Margaret Andrus Lachaussee; and brother-in-law, Clarence Joseph “CJ” Andrus (Gertie).
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Maurice on Friday, March 1, 2024 beginning at 10 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 12 p.m. on Friday afternoon in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue, following the Rosary, until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Andrus, Jarrod Andrus, Jacob Andrus, Ridge Andrus, William Lachaussee, and Jude Picard.
