ABBEVILLE / RAYNE, La. — Funeral services was held on Monday, February 3, 2025 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Eula Leger Matte, 83, who died Friday, January 31, 2025 at Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, LA.
Interment took place in the Leger Cemetery in Rayne, LA.
Rev. Connor Poirrier, Parochial Vicar of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, LA will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela Matte David and spouse Hal David of Abbeville, three grandchildren, Timothy Tomplait, Andrew Cook, Emily Cook and fiance Ben Robertson, eight great-grandchildren, Secilya Kenney and companion Yana, Ellie Kennedy, Angel Clark, Darbie Tomplait, Jonathan Tomplait, Gracie Tomplait, Zeauxie Tomplait, Sandrina Clark, Eric Battles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Liness Matte, two sons, Brian Matte, David Matte, daughter, Arlene Matte Cook, grandson, Michael Paul Matte, step great grandson, James Kenney, parents Delma Leger and Anita Trahan Leger, two brothers, Wilfred Leger, Eljune Leger, two sisters, Pearl Leger Lantier, Leva Leger.
Pallbearers were Timothy Tomplait, Andrew Cook, Ben Robertson, John Tomplait.
A Rosary was prayed Monday, February 3, 2025 at 11:30 am in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA.
The family requested that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
