Stolen property recovered, two arrests made in Delcambre

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer Eddie Langlinais, on August 21, 2021, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about possible stolen property from St. Mary Parish that was located at a residence in the 100 block of Julie Drive in Delcambre.
Through further investigation, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Offices Criminal Investigations Division along with investigators from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office gathered enough information to obtain a search warrant for the property.

Artificial Turf Coming to A.A. Comeaux Park in Abbeville

Big changes are coming to A.A. Comeaux Park, changes some Abbeville officials believe are necessary to help shore up the city’s future.
During Tuesday night’s regular meeting, the Abbeville City Council adopted a resolution giving preliminary approval to issue revenue bonds not to exceed $3 million.
Once approved, those funds would facilitate vast improvements at A.A. Comeaux Park, including adding artificial turf to baseball fields, construction of additional parking and numerous other projects.
Work should be completed by the start of next summer.

Cattle Festival canceled for second straight year

For the second time in 72 years, the Cattle Festival in Abbeville will not happen.
Louisiana Cattle Festival President Francis Plaisance announced Thursday morning that the 72nd Annual Louisiana Cattle Festival would not be held at its regularly scheduled time in October.
Plaisance said he contacted all of the board members, and they all came to the same conclusion, that it is too dangerous to hold the Cattle Festival in October due to the virus.
“The risk is greater than the reward,” Plaisance said.
