Two Vermilion Parish schools receive 34 total applicants for head football jobs

There are two head football coaching jobs available in Vermilion Parish.
VC and Gueydan are looking for head coaches. The two schools have a combined 34 applications to select from, thus far.
VC will continue to take applicatons for the next couple of months. As of Friday, 22 applicants have been received. One is from Oregon and two are from Mississippi.
On the west end of the parish, there is also a lot of intertest in the Gueydan High football coaching job.

Abbeville's own AnnMarie Broussard wins her first collegiate meet in the pole vault

Abbeville’s own AnneMarie Broussard began her sophomore indoor track season at Northwestern State on a positive note.
She won her first-ever college meet by winning the Texas A&M indoor meet in the pole vault. She vaulted 13-0.75 and cleared the bar by almost a foot.
Broussard became the second Lady Demon in as many years to set the meet’s women’s pole vault record. Broussard cleared 13-0.75 on her second attempt, surpassing Northwestern teammate Reagan Darbonne’s 13-0.25 set in 2018.

LSU topped Clemson, 42-25, to win the national title.

LSU Tigers win national title

NEW ORLEANS - A dense fog enveloped the Crescent City Monday which brought about thoughts of things emerging from the poor visibility like the ghost of Marie LeVeau or Jean Lafitte.
What did emerge, however, was a College Football Playoff National Championship for the Fightin’ Tigers of LSU after dethroning the reigning national champion Clemson Tigers, 42-25.
“Well, I want to thank our great fans for being here,” said LSU head coach Ed Orgeron. “We left the hotel today, what a phenomenal group we had. They gave us energy all night, and they’ve been with us all year.

Rontrel Broussard scored six points for North Vermilion in the win over Erath.

ERATH - -The North Vermilion Patriots beat Erath 59-40 on the road Tuesday night.
North Vermilion jumped out to a 22-8 first-quarter lead and never looked back.
In the first quarter, Parker McNees had the hot hand for NV. He nailed three 3-pointers and two 2-pointers for a total of 13 points. He finished the game with 13 points.
At half time, the Patriots had a convincing 36-12 lead.
Erath was able to score 27 points in the second half but never got too close to taking the lead.
The Patriots made 10 3-pointers.

Moy is Abbeville High's new head football coach

Abbeville High School has a new head football coach.
Abbeville High Principal Dr. Janet Guerrini has selected Gueydan head football coach Roderick Moy. She informed him on Wednesday.
He was excited when he received the phone call.
“Extremely excited for the opportunity to move my career forward,” said Moy.
Dr. Guerrini said she was impressed with the seven applicants, and she went with Moy because of his coaching experience and the fact that he is already in the parish.
