Perro allegedly involved in another shooting

According to Sheriff Eddie Langlinais, on April 23, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a drive-by shooting that took place on South John Hardy Drive in Abbeville.
Upon arriving, Deputies learned that the house was struck multiple times by gunfire. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Detectives were then requested and arrived shortly after, to begin a thorough investigation.

Abbeville Community Cleanup Day set for April 26

It’s spring, and that means time for cleaning.
That effort doesn’t have to be limited to your home, either.
Those interested in cleaning on a larger scale can take part in Abbeville’s Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 26. The cleanup, which is sponsored by the Math Depot, will take place from 8 a.m. to noon.
“This isn’t just about picking up trash,” said Nikia Johnson, who helped organize the event, “it’s about coming together as a community, showing pride in where we live, and teaching the next generation what it means to take care of what we’ve been given.

Abbeville Police Department responds to fatal shooting

An Abbeville man is dead, and another person is injured after a suspect fired multiple shots into a vehicle that also had a toddler inside.
On Friday, April 18, at approximately 10:08 p.m., the Abbeville Police Department received several calls of shots fired around the 700 block of South Guegnon Street in Abbeville. Minutes later, the department received another call that someone had crashed into a utility pole in Landry’s Laundromat parking lot on Charity Street. Another call then came in advising of a shooting victim on Prairie Avenue.

1,000 egg Easter Egg hunt this Saturday in Abbeville

Abbeville will host what could be the largest Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday (April 19) at the Herbert Williams Baseball Field. There will be 1,000 eggs hidden to highlight the first-ever Easter Egg Hunt Kids Festival.
The festival is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the baseball field located at 1600 Martin Luther King Drive in Abbeville.
Ravin St. Julien is the director of the nonprofit La. Dynasty Inc. is putting on the event.

Task Force locates drugs in business on Gross Isle Road in Vermilion Parish

According to Sheriff Eddie Langlinais, on April 9 at around noon, the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at a business on Grosse Isle Road in Abbeville.
An investigation involving Nathan Zenon Jr., 41, led agents to the business. Occupants of the property were brought into a common area where Miranda Rights were read to and waived by all. Nathan Zenon Jr. and Kavian Zenon, 38, were arrested for narcotics-related offenses as a result of the investigation.
