Grangers fulfilling son’s three wishes

LAFAYETTE - There is the saying, “Live your life like you are writing your eulogy and not your resumé.” Ross Granger of Erath was on this Earth for only 18 years and his eulogy outshines most of us.
Despite leaving this Earth a year ago, Granger’s eulogy also continues to be written.
The Erath High graduate lost his short battle with cancer after being diagnosed a month after graduating high school. His senior year at EHS, he signed a baseball scholarship at LSUE in Eunice.

Injury leads Braylon Moore from football field to business world

Like so many kids his age, 10-year-old Braylon Moore loves playing sports.
Moore especially loves playing football, something he has done for years in the local league in Vermilion Parish. Those years have helped the young Moore learn valuable lessons.
“Sports taught me how to believe in myself, have confidence, and set goals,” Moore said. “It has also taught me how to work with my teammates, listen to my coaches and to never give up.”

Abbeville’s Plowden honored as UL Lafayette Homecoming Queen; VC grad Emily Husband named Maid on Court

Shalanda Plowden, a senior double major in political science and history, will reign as queen of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s 2017 Homecoming.
Maids on the Homecoming Court are Rachel “Eden” Abraham of New Orleans; Christina Hernandez of Lafayette; Rebecca Hebert of Jennings, La.; Emily Husband of Abbeville, La.; and Mary McMahon of Houma.

Donations help drive efforts for Animal Aid for Vermilion Area

Animal Aid for Vermilion Area (AAVA) took over an important role three years ago when the Vermilion Parish Police Jury appointed the group as the only animal rescue to remove animals from the parish facility.
Since that time, the volunteers of AAVA have spent incalculable hours interviewing interested adopters, developing relationships with local and out-of-state rescues and networking each animal.
