Dustin Dale Gaspard heads to Canada to play music, learn the culture

Dustin Dale Gaspard, 32, is a full-time Cow Island musician who describes his music as “Bilingual Acoustic Roots.” He plays harmonica, banjo and acoustic guitar performing his songs and singing in Cajun French and English.
Gaspard answered questions about his career and explained why he is moving to Canada at the end of the month.

Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force arrests three

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force made the following arrests for narcotics related offenses within the parish.
After receiving complaints in reference to suspected illegal narcotic activity, Agents conducted a month’s long investigation and identified two residences and their occupants.

DeHart resigns as school district’s art supervisor to oversee Lâche Pas program fulltime

Madeline DeHart has recently resigned from her position as the supervisor of Arts, Music, and Foreign Languages in the school district after 19 years.
However, she will continue working within the district.
Two years ago, DeHart played a key role in establishing the new program called Lâche Pas Vermilion in the school district.

Like everyone her age, Aubrie Broussard is ready for summer break.
However, Broussard will incorporate some elements of school into her summer, and she couldn’t be more excited about it.
Broussard, who will be entering eighth grade at J.H. Williams Middle School in Abbeville, will travel to Savannah, Ga., on June 9 to take part in the spelling bee at the National Jr. Beta Convention. 
“I’ve always liked spelling,” Broussard said when she visited the Kiwanis Club of Abbeville on Tuesday.
