Irene Levine Hawthorne

ABBEVILLE, La. — A Home-going Celebration for Mrs. Irene L. Hawthorne, 91, the former Irene Levine will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Mount Triumph Baptist Church (310 S. Lamar Street) with Rev. Willie Williams, Jr., Pastor officiating.
She will await the resurrection at St. Paul Cemetery, (515 Jacqulyn Street) in Abbeville, LA.
A visitation will be held at Mount Triumph Baptist Church on Saturday, August 10, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Mrs. Hawthorne was a resident of Abbeville, LA. She transitioned from labor to reward at 10:45 P.M. on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at her residence. 
She accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church and was a retiree of the Vermilion Parish School Board.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Janice Campbell (Willie) of Tomball, TX, Donna Hillstock of Port Arthur, TX, Nettie Mitchell of New Iberia, LA and Debra Smith (Michael) of Abbeville, LA; two brothers, Dallas Levine, Sr. (Ruby) of Olivier, LA and Walter George Levine, Sr. of Abbeville, LA; aunt, Velma Shade of Port Arthur, TX; son-in-law: Sterling Johnson of Abbeville, LA; goddaughter, Shela B. Lewis of Crowley, LA; godson, Donald McNeal of Port Arthur, TX; granddaughter she raised as her own, Nichole Phillips (Sean) of Dallas, TX; great-granddaughter she raised as her own, Nadaeshea Calais (Celton) of Breaux Bridge, LA; great-grandson that she raised as her own, Nadeadrick Mouton of Port Arthur, TX; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, friends, and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Hawthorne; son, Clarence Mitchell, Jr.; daughter, Verdner Johnson; parents, George Levine and Verdna Reedom Levine; brother, Dalton Levine, Sr.; grandparents, Marshall Reedom, Sr., and Maggie Harris Reedom, uncles, Joseph Reedom and Herman Reedom; aunt, Maggie McNeal. 
Active Pallbearers are Juparee Campbell, DeShawn Dozier, Darius Comeaux, Damion Comeaux, NaDeadrick Mouton, and Celton Calais.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dallas Levine, Sr., Walter Levine, Sr., Bishop Raymond Captiville, Alton Levine, Sr., Lennis Levine, Michael Smith, Sterling Johnson, and Rev. Willie Campbell.
