James Quirk

ERATH – Funeral Services for Mr. James “Jimmy” Erwin Quirk, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at David Funeral Home of Erath with Fr. Clinton Sensat officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service with a recitation of rosary at 12 p.m.
A native of Washington, Louisiana and a resident of Erath, Mr. Quirk died at 7:27 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023 in Erath. After graduating from Washington High School, Mr. Quirk served three years in the Army where he traveled around the world.  Upon his return, he attended U.S.L. and L.S.U., earning a master’s degree +30 in education.  Mr. Jimmy was a long time educator who began his teaching career in St. Landry Parish and Lafayette Parish.  However, the majority of his employment was in Vermilion Parish, where he served as the principal of Forked Island-E. Broussard Elementary and Kaplan Elementary.  In addition, he spent several years teaching adult education. Mr. Quirk loved traveling, gardening, reading, keeping up with current events, and spending time with his family and friends.
 He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pat Prejean Quirk of Erath; two sons, Tim L. Quirk and his wife Edna of Fulshear, TX and Tom J. Quirk and Melody Theriot of Erath; two daughters, Charlotte Domingues and her husband Jim of Erath and Melanie Roussel and her husband Mark of Abbeville; a sister, Kathleen Lipari; twelve grandchildren, Brittany Khandoga and her husband Evgeny, Timothy Quirk, Brison Menard, Morgan Alleman, Emily Alleman, Victoria Roussel, Grace Roussel, Caitlin Scalisi and her husband Wayne, Catherine Blanchard and her husband Taylor, Kyler Quirk, Madison Quirk, and Nicholas Quirk; and three great grandchildren, Marie Blanchard, Baker Blanchard, and Daphne Khandoga on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leo Quirk and Marie Louise Langlinais Quirk; a brother, Webb Quirk; and four sisters, Peggy Thibodeaux, Nell Byington, Nona Ventre, and Marie Louise Sims.
David Funeral Home of Erath at 209 E. Putnam St. (337) 937-0405 will be handling the arrangements.
