Jessica Lyn Simon Meaux

September 19, 1978 ~ December 19, 2021

ABBEVILLE — On Sunday December 19th, 2021 the world lost Jessica Meaux, a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother to her daughter, Loren and a wife to her husband, Jeremy. She was the greatest friend to all who knew her and never met a stranger. Her most appreciated qualities were her selflessness, her genuine care for those around her, her time she spent volunteering helping those in need, whether that was by helping victims of recent hurricanes, buying Christmas gifts every year for the less fortunate children, or just giving her prayers for other people’s intentions. She loved her family more than life itself.
She was a shining light in every room she entered. She was the life of every party and it was hard not to instantly fall in love with her thick Cajun accent. She had a talent for making everyone laugh until their stomachs hurt and she made sure to make everyone feel welcomed. She made sure to live in the moment and every day to the fullest. She inspired those around her with her love and friendship, and she will serve as a role model to those who loved her. She was a one-of-a-kind person who will be cherished in the hearts of many.
She was a loving daughter who was always there to help without hesitation. She loved and cared for her nieces and nephews like her own children. She was the first person to call in a time of need. She had strong faith in God even in her final moments, always accepting and trusting in God’s will for her life.
Jessica was an extremely proud business owner of Letters on the Lane Greetings. It was her way to bring joy in other people’s lives by putting a smile on their faces when celebrating accomplishments and milestones. She loved to be known as “the sign lady”. She enjoyed socializing with clients and making connections through her sales representative position with 008 Magazine in Lafayette and surrounding areas. She began her sales career working at the Abbeville Meridional newspaper for almost 20 years. There she met friends she considered family who she would carry with her the rest of her life. Jessica spent a period of time working for La Palmera Spa in Abbeville, where she met a variety of close friends. Her favorite hobby was decorating for and celebrating all holidays with her family, especially Christmas.
She hosted holiday celebrations that will never be forgotten and created traditions her family will carry on for the rest of their days. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and a member of Our Saviors Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Jessica Lyn Simon Meaux, 43, who died Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Louis J. Richard officiating the services.
Jessica leaves behind her husband, Jeremy Meaux; daughter, Loren Meaux; grandmother, Vernice Long; parents, Ricky and Kathy Simon; her younger sister, Michelle Faul and husband, Rick Faul; her older sister, Shannon McCollum; nephew, Hudson Faul; nieces, Alyssa and Morgan DeRouen; and her Godchildren, Emery Faul, Emily and Tyler DeRouen; and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Enite and Presley Weekly; and grandfathers, Joseph Paul Simon and Robert Lee Long.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M; Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 8:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. when the procession will depart for the church.
