ABBEVILLE, La. – A Home-going Celebration of Life for Mrs. Sharon Denise Parker, 57, the former Sharon Linton will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Christ Community Church of Abbeville (210 South Saint Valerie Street) with Dr. Warren Milson, III, officiating.
She will await the resurrection in St. Paul Cemetery (515 Jacqulyn Street) in Abbeville, LA.
A visitation will be held at Christ Community Church of God in Christ on Saturday, September 7, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Sharon was born on January 2, 1967, in Houston, TX. She was a resident of Abbeville, LA and departed this life on the morning of Friday, August 30, 2024, at her residence.
“Smokie” as she was affectionately known by many, attended Christ Community Church of God in Christ in Abbeville, LA. For numerous years, she worked for Vermilion Healthcare in Nunez, LA and was a Certified Nursing Assistant for 38 years.
Sharon was the life of the party and she loved to play pokeno and bingo as well as she loved going to the casino.
She leaves in God’s care to cherish her fond memory, her husband, Elliott Parker of Abbeville, LA; three sons, La’Derrick Linton of Abbeville, LA, Lamar Linton (Tiffany) Linton and La’Juan Linton of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, La’Daisha Campbell (Joseph) and of Newport News, VA and La’Kira Campbell Moon (Mikayla) of Westfield, VA; two stepdaughters, Latasha Parker and Latrella Parker both of New Iberia, LA; one brother, Cornelius Darby (Wayne) of Abbeville, LA; one half-brother, Sherman Ray Taylor of Houston, TX; one uncle, Elliott Darby, Jr. of Abbeville, LA; two aunts, Sister Lela Mae Proctor Chentlen of New Iberia, LA and Sister Beulah Ann Walker of Abbeville, LA; two brothers-in-law, Freddie Zeno and Lawrence Zeno both of New Iberia, LA; four sisters-in-law, Thelma Guy (Gerald) , Cindy Galentine (Allen), Alma Londo (Marlon), and Judy Parker (Nathaniel) all of New Iberia, LA; one godchild, Phaedra Davis (Joseph) of Abbeville, LA; her traveling bestie, Mary “Lee-Lee” Towles of Abbeville, LA; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 7 step grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Mae Guidry Joseph; father, Sherman Taylor; two brothers, Patrick O’Neal Linton and Jodie Wayne Taylor; stepfathers, Percy Ray Joseph, Sr. and Antoine T. Will Green; maternal grandparents, Ernest Guidry and Mammie Levy; paternal grandparents, Hector and Rosie Taylor.
