Eva Bessard

ABBEVILLE, La. — A Home-going Celebration will be held for Mrs. Eva Marie “Nunie Bessard, 75, the former Eva Marie Coleman at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church with Pastor Mideate Derouen, officiating.
She will await the resurrection at Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church until time of service.
A native and resident of Abbeville, LA. She passed at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 at her residence.
She was a 1969 graduate of James A. Herod High School in Abbeville, LA. In addition, she was employed and retired from Abbeville General Hospital after more than twenty-five years of service. Lastly, she was a member of Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory; three step-sons, Hubert Bessard, III (Nita), Terry Bessard, Sr. (Lorraine), and Brad Landry all of Abbeville, LA; three step-daughters, Stephanie Kelly and Huberta Nolan of Houston, TX and Mary Adams (Clavern) of Abbeville, LA; four sisters, Gladys Coleman Briggs, Hattie Coleman , Carolyn Coleman and Audrey Coleman all of Abbeville, LA; two godchildren, Lynette Williams and Jamilah Brown both of Abbeville, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Hubert Bessard, Sr.; her parents, Harry Coleman, Sr. and Gladys Francis Coleman; two brothers, Harry Coleman, Jr. and Charles Coleman; stepson, Darryl Bessard; nephew, Karlon Coleman, Sr.; niece, Kim Shelvin and a mother who reared her as a daughter, Victoria Joiner Briggs.
Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Briggs, Kerry Moore, Kelly Coleman, Clavern Adams, Derion Guillory and Gerald Lewis, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Hubert Bessard, III, Hubert Bessard, Jr., Raymond Broussard, Rodrick Lopez, Kerry Briggs, Kadeylon Coleman, Miquel Comeaux and Lance Brown.

Christine Arceneaux Labit

April 17, 1960 ~ March 6, 2024

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Christine Arceneaux Labit, 63, who passed on
Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Oschner Lafayette General Hospital. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with her sister, Pastor Charlene Pittman officiating the services. Those serving as pallbearers will be Trent Touchet, Brennan Touchet, Landon Hebert, Kendall Duplantis, Brandon Labit, and Jody Dubois.
To those of you who knew Christine knows she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family always came first. She was always willing to help others. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, and gardening.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Michael C. Labit; daughter, Crystal Duplantis; mother, Carrie Schexnayder; five grandchildren, Cade Touchet, Trent Touchet, Kylie Touchet, Brennan Touchet, and Emma Duplantis; and seven siblings, Debbie Blaize, Bonnie Vincent, Linda Broussard, Philys “Twiggie” d’Augereau, Charlene Pittman, Tammy Mikolon, and Ricky Arceneaux.
She was preceded in death by father, Oris Arceneaux; and son, David John Touchet her paternal grandparents, Rita and Antoine Arceneaux and her maternal grandparents, Agnes and Lloyd Bourque.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.; Monday, March 11, 2024 from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Allen Ray "Sweet Pea" Stoute, Jr.

September 17, 1971 ~ March 6, 2024

ABBEVILLE — Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Allen Ray "Sweet Pea" Stoute, Jr., 52, who died Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at his residence. Deacon William Vincent officiated the service. A private burial will take place at a later date.
“Sweet Pea” worked many years in construction as a Pipe Fitter Superintendent. He enjoyed watching LSU Tiger football and all sports. He also enjoyed having cookouts with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Stoute; mother, Gail Stoute; sister, Allison Hughes and husband Chad; uncle loved as a brother, Larry Trahan and his wife Rose; aunts, Marian Arabie and JoAnn Guidry and husband Bobby; two nieces, Bailey and Laya; numerous cousins; and a son and daughter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Ray Stoute, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Trahan; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ray Stoute; and uncles, Daniel Arabie, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Turner.
The Stoute family would like to thank his nurses, Natalie Gray and Scarlette Rideaux for all the loving care and compassion the showed.
