MEAUX — A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM in Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville for Mary "Ruth" Sellers Stelly, age 83, who passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at her residence in Meaux.
Father Glenn Meaux officiated the Funeral Mass.
Mary Ruth Sellers was born on January 8, 1939, in Abbeville, Louisiana, and she was a life long resident of Vermilion Parish. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In her spare time Ruth enjoyed Sewing, and she was also a wonderful cook. Some of her best dishes included, Rice Dressing, Shrimp Casserole, and Spaghetti. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ruth will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. A Rosary will be recited at 12:00 noon in the Cypress Chapel.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 63 years, Floyd J. Stelly fo Meaux; her children, Gregg Stelly (Lisa) of Meaux, Lynne Granger (Chuck) of Opelousas, Lori Stelly (Calvin) of Scott, and Guy Stelly (Dana) of Abbeville; her grandchildren, Brandon Stelly, Hunter Stelly, Noah Stelly, Lindsey Ramirez, Madison Granger, Jordan Fontenot, Whitney Howard, Lauren Lassere, Taylor Stelly, Victoria Deslatte, Ramzy Devalcourt, Chaz Stelly, and Landon Stelly; her 10 -great grandchildren; as well as her sister, Olive "Catherine" Granger (Larry) of Franklin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphaues Sellers and Marie una Mouton Sellers; her brothers, Pierre "Russell" Sellers, and Lurcey Sellers.
Pallbearers were, Brandon Stelly, Ramzy Devalcourt, Hunter Stelly, David Guidry, Chuck Granger, and Michael Ramirez. Honorary Pallbears, Noah Stelly, Aiden Stelly, and Cohen Lassere.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the Nurses, Doctors, and Staff of Heart of Hospice, for the loving care and compassion they provided Ruth in her final days.
A private interment will be held at a later date in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Abbeville.

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Estelle Prejean Pierce, 96, who died Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Mausoleum.
Estelle (Red) loved history, enjoyed reading and traveling. A graduate of USL in Lafayette, LA she taught school for thirty years at Mouton Cove/Seventh Ward Elementary in Vermilion Parish.
She is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Rebecca P. Boffy and her husband Denis of Abbeville; Barry P. Pierce of Abbeville; Juliette Pierce and her partner Karen McAlister of Stockbridge, Vermont; and Jessica P. Vaughan and her husband Brent of Abbeville; a sister, Yvonne M. Prejean; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Maxie Pierce, her parents Philip Prejean and Emily Ayo Prejean, and two sisters, Marietta and May Prejean.
The family had a private visitation at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

ERATH –  A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life and spirit of Judith “Judy” Ann LeBlanc Shiner, 84, was held on Monday, September 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, with Father Clinton Sensat officiating.
 Visitation was held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Sunday, September 4, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation resumed on Monday, September 5, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. until the time of the services.  Interment followed at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.  Sacristans were Mr. Glynn Stutes and Mr. Howard Reaux.  Lectors were her cousin, Heddy Nunez and her daughter-in-law, Teilla Shiner.  Gift bearers were her daughter-in-law, Monica Shiner, her granddaughter-in-law, Karen Shiner, and her sister, Joan Langlinais.  Music was provided by Natial D’Augereau, soloist, and Frances Toups, organist.  Musical selections for the service included “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Ave Maria,” “Taste and See,” and “J’irai La Voir Un Jour.”  
A native of Erath, Judy, journeyed home to be with Our Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 10:25 p.m.   As a graduate of S.L.I. (now U of L), she majored in elementary education and taught for twenty-eight and a half years at Erath Elementary and Middle School, grades first and sixth.  She was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, daughter, mother-in-law, grandmother, and sister.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling to all lower forty-eight states, going to the casino and horseraces, playing cards, and driving to visit her relatives and friends in Erath.  A devoted New York Yankees’ fan and New Orleans Saints’ fan, Judy could be found watching her Yankees and Saints daily during both baseball and football seasons.  One of Judy’s favorite hobbies included daily rides on her golf cart to her greenhouse business and her daughter’s barn, where she visited with her daughter’s filly and her namesake, “Judy’s Money Train.”  When Judy’s children were younger, she, her husband, and children traveled to many states by motorhome.  She enjoyed eating seafood and Polish food and dancing the “Polka” with her husband of fifty-seven years.  Judy met her future husband, Eddie, while he visited his two sisters, Liz Mergist and Judy’s neighbor, Helen Suire.  Also, she was a talented artist and an avid reader.  Both she and her husband Eddie became the owners and operators of L & S Greenhouse, a vegetable plant nursery.  Currently, Judy and her daughter, Mary, co-owned the nursery business.  Judy will be missed by all who knew her; however, her legacy will continue with her memorable stories, her example and character, and her love for her family and friends.  All of us will remember Judy as a feisty character with a great sense of humor.  
 Survivors include one daughter, Mary Shiner of Erath; two sons, Richard Shiner and his wife, Monica of Delcambre; Karl Shiner and his wife, Teilla of Erath; four grandsons, Jordy Shiner and his wife, Karen of Gonzales; Taylor Shiner of Delcambre; Nicholas Shiner of Los Angeles, Ca; and John-Michael Shiner of Erath, one sister, Joan Langlinais and her husband, Tilford of Erath along with a host of nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Eddie Shiner; her parents, George J. LeBlanc and Melba “Bill” LeBlanc; her brother, George Paul LeBlanc; her maternal grandparents, Aristide LeBlanc and Olita Bergeron LeBlanc; her paternal grandparents, Paulin LeBlanc and Blanche Koenig LeBlanc; one niece, Patrice LeBlanc; and two sisters-in-law, Sheila LeBlanc and Tammy LeBlanc.
 Serving as pallbearers were Richard Shiner, Karl Shiner, Jordy Shiner, Taylor Shiner, Nicholas Shiner, and John-Michael Shiner.

Shannon Marie Simon Duhon, 48 years old, went peacefully to her Heavenly home on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital after a years long and courageous battle with cancer.
Shannon was born in Metairie, LA on January 19,1974. She moved to the Leroy/Maurice area with her parents at a very young age, and attended local schools. She graduated from North Vermilion High School in 1992, where she loved being in the color guard and participating in the science fairs. She later obtained certification in medical insurance filing and billing. She worked in this area for many years in the office of Dr. Mike Mounir in Lafayette.
Shannon most enjoyed helping in the family orchard, reading books, playing video games with family, taking long car rides, sitting on her front porch watching and helping her husband grill something delicious, and visiting family and friends. She loved dining at her favorite Mexican, Greek, and Sushi restaurants. Her favorite vacations were snow skiing in Colorado and the “Make a Wish Foundation” trip to Disney World, Florida. In between illness treatments, she loved running 5Ks with her son and her dad. Shannon never seemed sad. She had her moments but she was relentlessly positive. She never had a bad word about anyone. She was strong and bright like her favorite flower, the sunflower.
Shannon was a devoted wife and loving mother. She leaves behind the loves of her life, her husband Troy Anthony Duhon son of Larry and Phyllis (Sonnier) Duhon of Meaux, daughter Chloe Primeaux, son Aaron Primeaux, stepdaughter Hailey Duhon, and her many fur babies (especially Pepper). She is survived by her parents, Lynn and Belinda (Brown) Simon of Leroy; sisters Lindsay (Aaron) Watson and Ashley (Derek) Broussard; nieces Cora Watson, Maggie and Riley Broussard; nephews Aiden Broussard, Todd and Noah Watson; both sets of grandparents, Donald and Wanda (Sherman) Simon of Abbeville; Gayle and Dorethea (Bernard) Brown of Perry and Esther; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Shannon was greeted in Heaven by extended family members James “Jimmy” Geisinger, Richard and Lucille “Granny” (Mizell) Geisinger; great grandparents Hazard and Claudia (Breaux) Simon of Leroy, Francois and Hazel (Simon) Sherman of Abbeville, Shen Hugh and Irene (Stansbury) Brown of Perry, and Raywood and Eta (Primeaux) Bernard of Esther.

A gathering of family and friends celebrating Shannon’s life will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maurice (Leroy) LA. on Monday, September 12 from 1 pm-2 pm followed by a Mass by celebrant Fr. Paul Bienvenu . A private internment will be at a later date.
Shannon was larger than life, her shoes cannot be filled. She touched so many people’s lives during her short life. This is a huge loss to our family. She will be so missed.
