Ronald “T- Paul” Duhon

October 18, 1941 ~ December 1, 2018

LEROY — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church honoring the life of Ronald Paul Duhon, 77, died peacefully at his home in Meaux LA on December 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He will be laid to rest at Leroy Community Cemetery with Reverend Paul Bienvenu officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Denry Duhon, Danny Duhon, Dallas Duhon, Damien Duhon, Andrew Szaniszlo and Rick Kidder. Honorary pallbearers will be Grayson Duhon, Kolbey Kidder, Lane Duhon, Maverick Kidder and William Best.
Ronald was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many, known to others as T-Paul. Ronald was a simple man, a true cowboy, riding horses, attending trail rides and anything having to do with being outside on the family farm.
He is survived by his three sons, Denry Duhon of Duson LA and his significant other Connie Clark, Danny Duhon of Meaux LA and his significant other Trisha Duhon, and Dallas Duhon of Port St Lucie FL and his life partner Andrew Szaniszlo; three siblings, Herman Duhon of Meaux LA and his wife Lynn Duhon, Felicia Duhon of Lafayette LA and her fiancé Jon Burke, and Charlene Gossen of Lafayette LA and her husband Jeff Gossen.
He had seven grandchildren, that called him “Paw” Damien Duhon, Leah Daniel, Courntey Morales, Lacey Kidder, Ashley Duhon, and Amy Duhon; seven great-grandchildren, that called him “T-Paw” Grayson Duhon, Lane Duhon, Addison Morales, Ella Toups, Kolbey Kidder, Maverick Kidder, and William Best.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Velma Duhon; the love of his life and mother of his children Virley Bodin Duhon; his elder son, Dwayne Paul Duhon; and granddaughter, Alana Duhon.
As he rides off into the sunset, there will be a celebration of life at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 8:00 AM until 1:30 when the procession will depart for the church.

Marie Anite D. Bourque Viator

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Marie Anite D. Bourque Viator, age 93, at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday from 8:00 am until service time.
A native of Erath and resident of Delcambre, Marie Anite D. Bourque Viator passed away on Monday, December 03, 2018 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Abbeville surrounded by her loving family.
Better known as “Anite” by family and friends, she was born on December 17, 1924 to the late Ceriac and Laura Menard Decoux, and was one of thirteen children. Anite was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her time to being a housewife and caring for her family as well as working for the Iberia Parish School Board for over fifteen years. Anite greatly enjoyed dancing, listening to French music, and baking. She was famous for her delicious homemade bread. Anite will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Linda B. Menard (Charles) of Abbeville, Hilda B. Porter (Lynn) of Abbeville, Charlene B. Hebert (Neil) of Abbeville, Timmy P. Bourque of Erath, and Paul Bourque, Jr. of Delcambre; brother, Lawrence Decoux of Erath; grandchildren, Blair Menard, Boyd Porter, Garrett Hebert, Alaina H. Touchet, Keagan B. LeBlanc, Jacob Paul Bourque, and Gannon Ryan Bourque; and great grandchildren, Elliot Pierce Menard, Kennedi Thibodeaux, John Nicholas Touchet, Meg Touchet, Ana Kate Touchet, Hudson Hebert, Crawford Hebert, Isabelle LeBlanc, and Carlin LeBlanc.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Bourque, Sr.; second husband, Louis C. Viator; parents, Ceriac and Laura Menard Decoux; nine brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Blair Menard, Garrett Hebert, Boyd Porter, Jacob Bourque, Gannon Bourque, and John Nicholas Touchet.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Eastridge nursing home and the staff of Lamm Hospice for their kindness and support.

Harringtons to celebrate 70th anniversary

Leo and Vernise Harrington will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends at their favorite restaurant, Lagneaux’s Seafood Restaurant in Lafayette, La. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 5 p.m.
Hosting the dinner will be their grandson Kyle Harrinton and his wife, Kaylie.
The couple was married on December 4, 1948. They have two daughters, Diana Meaux, and her husband, Donald Meaux of Kaplan and Kathy Harrington and her fiance’, Keith Hargrave of Kaplan; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Kaplan is where the couple resided during their marriage and presently resides
Mr. and Mrs. Harrington enjoy sitting outside, visiting with family and friends.
The beautiful couple has been blessed with many years of love and happiness together .

Mrs. Brennan Robideaux

Corinne Thibodeaux - Brennan Robideaux joined in marriage

Miss Corinne Elyse Thibodeaux and Mr. Brennan Michael Robideaux, high school sweethearts, of Lafayette, Louisiana were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana on Saturday, the first of December at one o’clock in the afternoon. The nuptial Mass was officiated by Reverend Father Louis Richard, the same priest who married the bride’s parents nearly 26 years ago in the same church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thibodeaux of Lafayette, Louisiana. Mrs. Thibodeaux is the former Kimberly Dartez of Maurice, Louisiana
The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cordell Dartez of Maurice, Louisiana and Mr. and Mrs. Emile Thibodeaux of Erath, Louisiana. Miss Thibodeaux is a graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She is currently an Oncology Nurse at Lafayette General Hospital.
The groom is the son of the Honorable and Mrs. Joel Craig Robideaux of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Mrs. Robideaux is the former Bobette Murtagh. The groom is the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. James Murtagh of Baton Rouge, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Robideaux of Lafayette, and Ms. Amy Robideaux of Eunice, Louisiana. Mr. Robideaux is a graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic High School. He currently works in the film and television industry.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a designer gown by Anne Barge. The “Giverny” Pearl colored silk satin organza gown was sleeveless with an A line silhouette, illusion bateau neckline and a sweep chapel train. Alencon lace overlays embellished the bodice, waist, middle and bottom edge of the floor length skirt. A wide satin ribbon overlaid with alencon lace accented the natural waist and tied to a long elegant bow at the back of the dress.
She wore a cathedral length veil adorned with alencon lace to complement her wedding ensemble. She carried a natural clutch of white o’hara’s, white majolica’s, white ranunculus, and eucalyptus accented with her “something borrowed”, her mother’s rosary. On her right hand, Corinne wore her paternal great-grandmother’s wedding band set with a blue sapphire stone for her “something blue” and her garter was lined with lace from her mother’s wedding dress for her “something old”.
The bride was attended by maid of honor, Amelia Thibodeaux, sister of the bride. Following in procession were bridesmaids Ann-Kathryn Dartez, cousin of the bride; Rachael Robideaux, sister-in-law of the groom; Kaitlyn O’Brien, Sarah Martin, and Madeleine Breaux. The flower girl was Elouise Randall, cousin of the groom.
Attending as best men were brothers of the groom, Dylan and Luke Robideaux. Groomsmen included Noah Thibodeaux, brother of the bride; Michael Guidroz, Tyler Guidroz, and Robbie Mahtook. Ushers were Steele Becnel, Spencer Chance, Christopher Cook, and Marks Mann. Ring bearer was Mason Murtagh, cousin of the groom.
Serving as lectors were Ann Reneé Chiasson, godmother of the bride; Nannette Murtagh, aunt of the groom and Emily Guidroz, family friend of the groom. Serving as Eucharistic Minister was Debbie Guidroz, family friend of the groom. Serving as gift bearers were Scott Dartez, godfather of the bride and Edward Thibodeaux, uncle of the bride.
Musicians were organist and music director, Tommy Guidry, and trumpeter, Will Green.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette with entertainment provided by the band Three Thirty Seven.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by parents of the groom on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Jefferson Street Pub catered by Central Pizza in Lafayette.
After a honeymoon to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Maurice, Louisiana.

Mandy Songne’- Aaron Melebeck announce engagement

Miss Mandy Marie Songne’ of Maurice and Mr. Aaron Keith Melebeck of Abbeville are announcing their engagement and forth coming marriage.
Their wedding will take place on Saturday, December 22, 2018 during a 6:30 p.m. ceremony at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville officiated by Fr. Andrew Schumacher.
Mandy is the daughter of Gregory J. Songne’ and Becky T. Sonnier, spouse of Charles Sonnier Jr., all of Maurice. She is the youngest of five children. Her siblings are Brook S. Stelly, Cory Songne’, Blake Songne’, and Amy Songne’. Mandy also has two step-brothers, Jake and Ashton Sonnier. Her maternal grandparents are Sandra Trahan and Wayne and Liz Touchet of Abbeville. Her paternal grandparents are Carolyn Songne’ and the late Jules J. Songne’ of Abbeville.
The future bride is a 2012 graduate of North Vermilion High school and a 2017 graduate of UL Lafayette. She currently works for Acadian Contractors as a Time Coordinator Assistant.
Aaron is the son of Keith and Beth Melebeck of Abbeville. He is also the younger brother of the late Corey Rene’ Melebeck. His maternal grandparents are the late Rene’ Sr. and Lynn Moresi Broussard of Abbeville. His paternal grandparents are Dorothy “Chank” Melebeck and the late Francis E. Melebeck of Abbeville.
Aaron is a 2013 graduate of Vermilion Catholic High School and a 2017 graduate of UL Lafayette. He currently works for Bank of Erath as an IT Support Specialist and Security Officer. Aaron is also a contract pilot out of the Lafayette Area.

Gilbert Touchet

October 31, 1952 - November 29, 2018

Gilbert Touchet, age 66, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Gilbert was a loving father to two girls, the baby of all his siblings, and a sweet person to anyone he met. He loved football, being outdoors, and listening to his favorite music.
Survivors include two daughters, Gene’ Luquette and her husband, Cameron, of Youngsville and Madison Touchet of Kaplan; and two sisters, Velma Prejean of Duson and Dolores Theriot and her husband, Willie, of Morgan City.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lucille Touchet; two brothers, Steve and Jerry Touchet; one sister, Shirley Beadle; one infant brother; one half-brother, Clifford Roche; and two half-sisters, Betty Guidry and Helen Richard.

She was a life-long member of Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons; Kenneth Petry and Ross Petry of Abbeville, LA; two daughters, Jeretha Ardoin (Lionel, Sr.) and Lisa Hill (Richard) of Abbeville, LA; one brother, Herd Shelvin of Abbeville, LA eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Richard, 93, who died Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Eastridge Assisted Living Center. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.
She is survived by her son, Jude Richard and his wife, Terrie of Kaplan; her daughter, Mary A. Richard of Lake Charles; her daughter-in-law, Sandy C. Richard of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Christian Richard and his wife, Julie, Mandy and her husband, Kevin Romero, Stephanie and her husband, Lucas Tate, Andrew Richard, and Amelia and her husband, Jordan Schexnayder; and ten great-grandchilden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Rodney Richard; her son, James “Jimmy” Richard; and her parents Odeon Frederick and the former Paula Guidry.
