Annie Lou Landry Rodrigue

ERATH – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Annie Lou Landry Rodrigue, 89, will be held at 1:30PM on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Andre Metrejean officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 8:00AM until the time of the services.
A native and lifelong resident of Erath, Mrs. Rodrigue died at 6:30AM on All Souls Day surrounded by her family. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, The Ladies Altar Society, and Vermilion Homemakers Club. Mrs. Annie was a proud mother, homemaker, and artist who enjoyed playing bouree with her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing crafts such as crochet, making bows, and making Christmas ornaments. She also enjoyed the ten years she worked as a cafeteria worker at Erath High School and working as a volunteer at Abbeville General Hospital.
She is survived by three sons, Myron Rodrigue and his wife Leigh of Maurice, Randall Rodrigue and his wife Faye of Henry, and Todd Rodrigue and his wife Anna of Lafayette; two daughters, Billie Landry and her husband Earl of Erath and Christine Rodrigue of Erath; a brother, Corbet Landry of Nederland, TX; two sisters, Dossie LaBove of Port Arthur, TX and Bessie Jane Perrin of Erath; fourteen grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rayward J. Rodrigue; her parents, Calice and Elda Broussard Landry; a sister, Ditsie Dronet; and a grandson, Coby Jude LeBlanc.
Serving as pallbearers will be Vance Landry, Jacob Landry, Grant Rodrigue, Cory Rodrigue, Adam Rodrigue, and Kade Theunissen.

Wilson Louis Landry

LAFAYETTE — 10:00 AM Memorial Services will be held on November 10, 2018, at The Bayou Church in Lafayette, for Wilson Louis Landry, 67, who died Monday morning, October 15, 2018 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment was at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Linton Broussard, Pastor of The Bayou Church, conducted the service.
Cherishing Louis' memory is his beloved wife, Pat Landry; daughter, Jena Harmon and her husband, Jason; sons, Eric Landry and his wife, Andrea, and Anthony Wilson and his wife, Carin, and seven grandchildren, Jonn, Jade and Jess Harmon, Alexander and Zachary Wilson, and Emma and Anna Landry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Lilly Mae Dubois Landry; stepdad, Andrew Hebert; two brothers, Larry Landry and Ricky Hebert, and one sister, Linda.
A native of Abbeville and a resident of Lafayette, Louis loved fishing and was a member of the Bass Club. He was a member of Gary Funderburk Bible Class, Gary Matthews Bible Class, Brent Powell Bible Study, and a Greeter at The Bayou Church. Louis worked for Texaco for 28 years as a plant operator and at Amerada Hess as plant supervisor for 7 years.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Jason, Jonn and Jess Harmon, Alexander and Anthony Wilson, and Eric Landry.

Andrea “Susan” St. Germain

ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrea “Susan” St. Germain, 73 will be at 11:00AM, Monday November 5, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church in Henry with Father Andre Metrejean officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville Sunday November 4, 2018 from 1:00PM until 10:00PM with recitation of the rosary at 3:00PM and 7:30PM. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00AM until service time.
Susan, born in Morgan City, and a resident of Henry, passed away Thursday November 1, 2018 in Abbeville General Hospital. She enjoyed arts and crafts of all types and working with her hands. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Louis St. Germain Jr. of Henry, children, Troy D. St. Germain and wife Julie of Kaplan, Devin St. Germain and wife Linda of Henry, and Shannon St. Germain Sonnier and husband Kimble of Abbeville, sister, Corliss Robicheaux Verrett and husband Ray of Salado, TX. 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Hester Freeman Robicheaux, and a brother Russell Robicheaux.

Drug Take Back Day nets 70 pounds of pills

The Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force conducted a Drug Take Back Day in conjunction with the DEA to remove unused prescription pills from possibly ending up in the hands of those with ill intent.
Agents set up at two local Pharmacies and collected more than 70 pounds of pills.
Vermilion Parish Sheriff Couvillon said he wants to thank the people of Vermilion Parish for their continued support in keeping our parish a safe place to live, and raise families.
Sheriff Couvillon would also like to thank the Mayors, and their council, of Abbeville, Gueydan, and Erath, along with their Chiefs of Police, for their support of the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force. Through their support these programs are made possible for the people of the parish.

Martin Noel

February 23, 1936 ~ October 31, 2018

Abbeville — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Martin Noel, 82, who died Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Fr. Michael Richard officiating the services.
“Martin” is survived by his son, Marty Noel and his wife Kristina; three daughters, Jeanne Noel, Andree Noel Guidry and her husband Royce, and Monique Noel Laperouse and her husband Eddie; grandchildren, Shannon, Kristin, Cory, Jacob, Angelle, Brooke, Kyle, Brant and Skylar; six great grandchildren; and two brothers, J.F. Noel and Raymond Noel, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Palombo Noel; parents, Jacques Noel and the former Marie Colomb; and three sisters, Annette Dauterive; Leonie Colmer and Evelyn Harrison.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 300 Pere Megret St., Abbeville, on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 9:30 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM.
Special thanks to Lafayette General Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Grace Hospice for the wonderful care given to dad in his final days.

Calvin Boudreaux

ABBEVILLE – Funeral Service for Calvin Boudreaux is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Theresa Catholic Church – 101 N. Leonard Street – with interment in St. Paul Cemetery.
Calvin Boudreaux (71), a long-time native of Abbeville passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
He was a graduate of Herod High School and pursued a career as a boat captain for Zapata Haynie, Inc., as well as a Foreman at Live Oak Gardens. Calvin was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for telling jokes and making everyone laugh. He had a personality out of this world.
Calvin will be lovingly remembered forever by his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Comeaux Boudreaux and his children; Coretta Williams (Gene), Dwight Harris, Talitha Johnson (Colby), Nakia Carter (Patrick), Nadea Manuel (Brandon), Neyland Comeaux (Ashley), and Chassity Broussard (Michael). Calvin will be fondly remembered by his 26 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his siblings; Barbara Adams (Elton), Beverly Boudreaux, Tony Boudreaux (Josette), Marilyn Boudreaux, Yvonne Morris (Caszell) along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lucille Boudreaux, Sr., four brothers, Louis Jr., Angelo, Ray, and Roland Boudreaux; two sisters, Meriam and Linda Boudreaux; two sons, Keith Roy and Nijeal Comeaux; and one grandson, Da’Ni’Cea Maze, and in-laws Russell and Leola Comeaux, Sr, and Russell Comeaux, Jr.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 8:00 A.M. – 12:45 P.M. in the Kinchen Funeral Home Chapel – 218 N. St. Valerie Street (337) 898-9595. The rosary prayer will begin at 9:00 A.M. Then at 11:00 A.M. Bishop B.K. Stevens will offer encouraging words to the family.

The Sam Guarino Blacksmith Shop Museum will be open on Saturday, Nov. 3, in conjunction with the Giant Omelette Celebration.

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Ruvian Jules Stoutes, 86, who died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his residence. Roy Harold Sorbet

May 16, 1929 ~ October 31, 2018

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Abbeville United Methodist Church honoring the life of Roy Harold Sorbet, 89, who died Wednesday, October 31, 2018. He will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery with Pastor, Rev. Dr. Mollie McGee officiating the services.
Roy was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War. He was an advanced math and science teacher, guidance counselor, and was a GED instructor to inmates at the parish jail. He was also a Lay Leader at the Abbeville United Methodist church.
Roy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Meadows Sorbet; children, Rosanne Barona, Roy Sorbet Jr., Jeanne Pula, Scott Sorbet and Nancy Sorbet; grandchildren, Nina Goodwin, David Barona, Rafael Manzo, Christopher Barona, Nicholas Manzo, Claire Bujol, Christine Pula, Remi Sorbet, Kajsa Sorbet; seven great grandchildren; and siblings, Willard Sorbet, Mabel McManus, Beverly Simineaux, Betty King, George Sorbet, Silvia Brown and Shirley Worsham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sorbet; brothers, Reggie A. Sorbet, Charles W. Sorbet and Robert Sorbet Jr.; sisters, Geneva Morgan, Velta Shaukles and Rose Mae Sorbet; and grandson, Micah Ian Sorbet.
