Pat loved fishing, hunting and going to the movies.  He especially enjoyed beach vacations, camping at Toledo Bend, and trips to the casino with his “buds”.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 45 years, Marsha Courtier Ross, his children Grant Allen Ross (Allison), Jennifer R. Primeaux, and Neil Lawrence Ross (Crystal). He left behind 7 grandchildren, Olivia Ross, Colin Ross, Emma Ross, Kohen Primeaux, Jax Primeaux, Jordan Desormeaux, and Reese Thibeaux.

Ross, his father, James (Jimmy) Ross, his father-in-law Charles Courtier, his paternal grandparents, James Ross Sr. and Ethel Ross of Shawnee, Oklahoma, his maternal grandparents Theodore LaPorte and Mathilde Dutel LaPorte of Abbeville, LA., and a cousin Glenn LaPorte also of Abbeville, and several uncles and aunts.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Grace Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.  We would also like to thank Chelly LeFleur of Kindred Home Health.  She was our “go to” nurse for over a year who helped Pat cope with his many issues.  A big thanks to the staff at Fresenius West Dialysis Center.

Rep. Bob Hensgens

Rep. Bob Hensgens announces candidacy for Louisiana State Senate

BATON ROUGE — Today, Louisiana State Rep. Bob Hensgens, District 47, announced his candidacy for the District 26 seat of the Louisiana State Senate.
A conservative Republican, Hensgens is a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, and he has demonstrated this during his time serving as a state legislator and previously as mayor of Gueydan.
Earlier this year, Hensgens authored a Constitutional amendment specifically addressing the need for spending restrictions, because he believes Louisiana’s government should not outgrow the state’s economy.
Hensgens carries a track record of prioritizing smart spending on infrastructure in his district, and he also believes in exercising fiscal discipline throughout every level of government.
As mayor of Gueydan, Hensgens balanced the city budget and created a surplus without raising taxes. Hensgens eliminated massive government waste, cut expenses and even slashed his own salary to fund pay raises for the local police department.
Hensgens said the growth of government is out of control in Louisiana, and more elected officials need to prioritize fiscal discipline and responsibility.
“I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Louisiana State Senate,” Hensgens said. “We need more principled conservatives in the Senate, who are willing to work toward a state government that lives within its means. I have fought for Louisiana’s taxpayers throughout my political career, and I want to assure the citizens of District 26 that if elected, I will keep fighting.”
Hensgens is guided by his Christian values and is 100 percent Pro-Life and committed to protecting the unborn. He also strongly supports the Second Amendment and is an avid hunter.
Hensgens’ roots run deep in Acadia, Vermillion and Cameron Parishes. A graduate of Vermillion Catholic High School, he stepped away from college when his father was killed in a farming accident. With a degree from University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Business Administration, Hensgens built his own successful health care management business, and he also still runs the family farm.
Hensgens took office in the Louisiana House of Representatives in May 2011 after winning a special election. He previously served as mayor of Gueydan from October 2007 to May 2011.
