U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Brennen S. Lege graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Lege is the son of Michael and Carissa Courtney of Kaplan, La.
He is a 2013 graduate of Ramstein American High School, Ramstein, Germany.

T.J. and Nona Prejean of Cow Island celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. The two were married on December 28, 1947. The couple has three children, the late Glenwood Prejean, Danny Prejean and Becky Prejean; 16 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 13 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchilren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Abbeville — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church honoring the life of Audrey Elizabeth Angelette Veazey, 79, who died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Emmanuel Fernandez officiating the services.
Audrey is survived by her children, Angela Hoffman (Gary), Julie Walker (Bo Jack), Yvette Veazey Davidson (Johnny), Jense Veazey (Karen), and Quang Doan (Thu Ha Huynh); grandchildren, Kelly Ryder (Cenia), Jerrod Veazey (Deborah), Beau Veazey (Rheanne), Jake Walker, Brittnie Romero (Clay), Kylie Veazey, Alyssa Veazey, Uyen Doan Chanhkongsinh (Keng), Truc Nhu Doan (Andrew), Joanne Doan Dinh (Dakto), Timothy Doan, and Duyen Nguyen (Vu Thanh Ho); great grandchildren, Gracie Veazey, Piper Veazey, Jenci Veazey, Keng James Thien Chanhkongsinh, Christian and Henry Robichaux, and Owen Huy Dinh; and sister, Vergis Pitre’.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Carson” Veazey; parents, Oliver Boniface Angelette and the former Nolia Terrebonne; and siblings, Leo Angelette, Olivia LeFort, Therese LaVasseur, Irma Dupont, and Doris Begnaud.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Friday, December 29, 2017 from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM when the procession will depart for the church.

James Russell

ERATH — A Mass of Christian Burial for James Russell, 63, will be 10:00AM Saturday December 30, 2017 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Cedric Sonnier officiating. Interment will follow in LeBlanc Cemetery.
Visitation will be In David Funeral Home of Erath Friday December 29, 2017 from 5:00PM until 10:00PM with recitation of the rosary at 6:00PM and will resume Saturday from 8:00AM until service time.
James, born in San Diego, CA, and a resident of Lafayette passed away Sunday December 24, 2017 in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, an avid San Diego Chargers fan, who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rachael Russell of Lafayette: children, Terry Russell and wife Monica of Erath, Kathy Russell Hargrave and husband Chris of Delcambre, Mary Russell Segura and husband Chad of Erath, Jeremy Russell and wife Angela of Youngsville, Amanda Russell Arton and husband Steve of New Iberia, Angela Russell Gayneaux and husband Joe of Spring, Texas, and James Russell of Lafayette; siblings, Barbara Davidson and husband Martin of San Diego, CA, Judith Gardner and husband Ralph of Copperas Cove, TX, Patty Schwabe and husband Richard of Lake Tahoe, NV, Sally McIntire and husband Ross of Kempner,TX, John Russell and wife Diane of Killeen, TX, Richard Russell of Lacy, WA, Billy Russell and wife Bobbie of Oroville, CA

Mrs. Wilda Hebert Gary

ABBEVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Wilda Hebert Gary, 88, will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Theresa Catholic Church With Fr. Gregory Cormier officiating. Interment will be at St. Paul Cemetery on a later date.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 9:00AM until the time of the services with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM.
A native of Abbeville and a resident of Carencro, Mrs. Wilda left this world to begin her eternal life in the kingdom with the Lord at 9:36AM on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Evangeline Oaks Nursing Home in Carencro. Born on November 20, 1929 to Olita and Isadore Hebert, she was the third to last in a family of 14 children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all those who knew her. She worked for many years at Spic-n-Span Cleaners and was a devoted catholic woman who took great joy and pride in leading the rosary in French. She also enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, and catching up with friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Olivier of Carencro, Florence Broussard of Lake Charles, and Olita Pommier of Lake Charles; two step-sons, James Broussard and Alvin Broussard; a brother, J.C. Hebert; thirteen grandchildren, Michael Olivier, Michele Castille, Mark Olivier, Larry Klein, Patches Broussard, Terri Broussard, Darrell Nguyen, John Nguyen, Amanda Nguyen, Jerrica Hale, George Pommier, Jr., Jeremy Pommier, and Keisha Pommier; nineteen step grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, and sixty-one great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mossy Gary; her parents, Isadore and Olita Trahan Hebert; her first husband, Joseph C. Broussard; two sons, John Broussard and Terry Broussard; three step-sons, Roy Miguez, Ray Broussard, and Cleveland Broussard; seven brothers, Edward “Sport” Hebert, Claby Hebert, Alfred Hebert, George Norris Hebert, Clifton “Kip” Hebert, John “Eraste” Hebert, and Leon Hebert; five sisters, Emily Meyers, Eula Boudoin, Aureline Abshire, Jeanne Benoit, and Levie Trahan; two great grandchildren, Zoey Pommier and Bostey Broussard; and two step-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Olivier, Dudley Trahan, Darrell Nguyen, George Pommier, Jr., Patches Broussard, and James Broussard.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mark Olivier, Jeremy Pommier, John Nguyen, Mitchell Castille, Joshua Hale, and Alvin Broussard.
The family extends a special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care Compassus, Kim Fontenot, and Haley who took care of her during her last week on earth.

Harvey Joseph Saunier

DELCAMBRE – a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Harvey Jospeh Saunier, age 86, at 10:00 am Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until service time.
A native of Delcambre and resident of Abbeville, Mr. Saunier passed away at 2:15 am on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Saunier was a veteran of the US Army and served his country honorably from 1952-1954. He was employed in the oilfield industry for many years.
Mr. Saunier enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing and tending his small orchard of fruit trees. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred LeBouef Saunier of Abbeville; two sons, Victor Paul Saunier and wife Debbie Redmond Saunier of Gonzales and their children, Emily Saunier Sweatman and husband Frankie Lee Sweatman; and Scott Saunier; Jamie Paul Saunier and wife Melainie Davis Saunier of Tomball, TX and their children, Ava Saunier, Emma Saunier and Andrew Saunier; one great grandson, Cohen Lee Sweatman; his siblings, Davey Lee Saunier and wife Dora Jane Saunier of Delcambre; Ruth S. Langlinais of Baton Rouge and Phillipe Saunier and wife Anna Brown Saunier of Delcambre and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Itney and Media Leleux Saunier and one brother, John Sonnier.
