2021 All-Vermilion Parish Teams

Two Vermilion Parish athletes had breakout seasons
First, a 5-8, junior baseball player missed most of his sophomore season due to COVID-19. In John Touchet’s first full varsity season, he helped the North Vermilion Patriots win a Class 4A state baseball title by posting an 11-0 record on the hill.
Then, up the road, a freshman shortstop burst onto the scene for the Kaplan Lady Pirates. Fortunately for Kaplan, this shortstop did not play or hit like a rookie.
Kennedy Marceaux showed she was no ordinary freshman by putting up numbers that a freshman never sees in these parts.
She led the team with a .630 batting average to go along with her 18 home runs and 52 runs batted in.
In 108 at-bats, she struck out only one time.
Because of their outstanding season, Marceaux and Touchet were selected as the Vermilion Parish’s MVPs.
Abbeville General sponsored the plaques given to them.
Marceaux, who has already begun to draw interest in college softball programs, has a softball skill level compared to former Kaplan second baseman Courtney Hollier 13 years ago.
Kaplan head softball coach Brittney LeBeouf recognized Marceaux’s talent level and did not fear naming her the starting shortstop as a freshman.
“Her knowledge of the game makes her a huge asset to our team,” said LeBeouf. “She was a game-changer at the plate because she was so consistent, a threat on the bases being able to steal bases, and being extremely aggressive. In addition, her ability to make plays on defense is outstanding.
