Lotief no longer the head football coach at Kaplan High

For the last three days, the rumor floating around was that long-time Kaplan football coach Stephen “Tank” Lotief was out as the head football coach and wrestling coach at Kaplan High.
Late Thursday afternoon, Kaplan Principal Patricia Thibodeaux confirmed the rumor by releasing a typed statement.

North Vermilion on four-game winning streak

LEROY - The North Vermilion Patriots find themselves on a four-game winning streak.
NV sports a 7-2 record, and in all seven wins, the Patriots scored a lot of runs. They have put up numbers like 18 runs, 17 runs, 15 runs, 12 runs and 10 runs on the scoreboard.
“We are a young team but we have a lot of guys that can handle the bat, and we have really good team speed that’s helped us to put pressure on the teams that we play,” said NV head coach Jeremy Trahan.

Delcambre cruises past Livonia

DELCAMBRE - The Delcambre Panthers jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first two innings and then cruised to a 17-4 win over Livonia on Tuesday.
The Panthers secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the second inning.
The offensive onslaught by Delcambre was led by Hayden Frederick, Kalob Moneaux, Luke Pacetti, Zeb Falgout, Kade Desormeaux, and Parker LeBlanc, all driving in runs in the inning.
In the first inning, Delcambre got their offense started when Frederick singled home a run.

Breaux Bridge downs Erath

BREAUX BRIDGE - The Erath Bobcats dropped a 5-2 game to Breaux Bridge on the road on Tuesday.
Erath got behind 4-0 after three innings. The Bobcats finally got on the scoreboard with two runs in the fourth frame.
Coy Broussard singled and Saige Suire doubled Broussard for one run.
The Bobcats executed a double steal when Saige Suire went to third base and Jakob SanFlippo went to second.
Saige would score on Ethan SanFlippo ground out that made it a 4-2 game.

Vermilion Catholic's Lege taking his talent to Ave Maria University

The best passer in Vermilion Parish has found a place to continue his talent.
Drew Lege has thrown for 9,110 yards in four years at VC, which is more yards than anyone else in the parish.
On Monday, he signed a letter of intent to play for Ave Maria University, which is located in Naples, Florida (on the Gulf of Mexico side across from Miami).
The signing was held in the VC gymnasium surrounded by football players, family and friends.
Ave Maria University is a private Catholic institution that was founded in 2003. It has an undergraduate enrollment of 1,129,
