North Vermilion graduate lives dream by playing in 2019 College World Series

Two short years ago, Kiley Naomi was playing in the finals of the LHSAA Class 3A softball state championship. Today, she now finds herself starting for Oklahoma State and playing in the 2019 Women’s College World Series with a chance to win a national title.
She is a 19-year-old true freshman.
“Honestly, it is like a dream come true,” said Naomi about playing the World Series. “It is everything I ever dreamed of. I have been watching the World Series my entire life, and now I am able to be playing in it.”

Six teams make baseball playoffs

The Louisiana High School Association announced the baseball playoff pairings and six teams from the parish are in.
Three will be playing home while the other three are on the road.
It is a single game elimination in the first round.
Two Vermilion Parish teams will play Monday, while the other four are playing this week.
North Vermilion, the No. 13 seed, will play No. 20 Pine Praire (19-14) Monday at 4 p.m. at NVHS.
No. 14 Kaplan is at home against No. 19 Westlake. The two teams play Monday at 6 p.m.

Erath, Kaplan, NV cruise to easy first round wins

KAPLAN - The Kaplan Lady Pirates scored 14 runs in the first inning against Avoyelles in the Class 3A first round playoff game on Thursday.
When the game was over, after only three innings, the Lady Pirates won 18-0 with the help of 15 hits.
The Lady Pirates are back in action on Tuesday for a second round game against No. 12 Pine Praire. The game starts at 6 p.m.
Pine Praire sports a 19-11 record. Earlier in the year they lost to North Vermilion 7-6.
The winner of that game plays the winner of the No. 4 Crowley/No. 20 Church Point game later this week.

Erath Bobcats have now won seven straight

The Erath Bobcats have now won seven straight games after sweeping Abbeville.
The Bobcats improved to 23-4 overall and 9-1 in district.
They are also ranked No. 3 in the Class 3A power rankings.
Erath steps out of district on Monday to battle VC. Then they close out district this week with games against Kaplan.
