LAFAYETTE – Former Vermilion Caholic pole vaulter Bailey Broussard finished third (11-3 3/4) place in her first college track meet.
Broussard, a freshman, and the Cajuns track and field team opened its 2018 indoor season on Friday when it traveled to Baton Rouge to compete in the LSU Purple Tiger Invitational at Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.

The North Vermilion Patriots and Lady Patriots took care of Erath on Friday.
The win keeps both North Vermilion teams in the hunt for the district title and a playoff berth in the Class 3A playoffs.
In the girls game, the Lady Pirates had little trouple whipping Erath 58 -36 at NVHS.
The Lady Patriots blew the game open in the first half by scoring 36 points compared to Erath’s 20.
Kaylee Lopez provided the spark for NV with 20 points. She nailed four 3-pointers. They were all made in the first half.

Beating the Abbeville Wildcats in their gym is always tough, especially for the Kaplan Pirates.
Despite the odds, the Pirates pulled off the victory, 43-40, over Abbeville on Friday.
“This was a big win for the kids becaue they worked so hard in practice,” said Kaplan head coach Cody Mire. “We have come so close, losing by one or two points to different teams this season.. Tonight, we pulled it off.”
