LDWF Agents Arrest a Boat Operator, Vehicle Driver for DWIs in South Louisiana

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents arrested two subjects for alleged driving or operating a vessel or vehicle while impaired (DWI) in St. Martin and St. Mary parishes on March 13 and March 14.
Agents arrested Koby Theriot, 18, of Pierre Part, on March 13 in St. Martin Parish for DWI on the water, improper running lights and possession of alcohol by someone under 21. Agents also cited Brye Burnett, 18, from Pierre Part, for possession of alcohol by persons under 21.

Emergency Operations Center activated due to wildfire threat in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE – The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has activated the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) due to hundreds of wildfires impacting the state. GOHSEP and the other state agencies responsible for response to this type event will help coordinate resources to combat the fires and stop new wildfire threats.

State of the University: UL Lafayette R&D spending tops $200 million mark for first time

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has surpassed $200 million in research and development spending for the first time in its history.
Dr. Joseph Savoie, UL Lafayette president, announced the milestone Wednesday during the State of the University address. The annual presentation to faculty and staff members marks the start of the fall semester and the new academic year. Classes at UL Lafayette begin Monday.
