A son, Henry Michael Gonsoulin, was born Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Abbeville General to Carrie Nichole Primeaux of Kaplan and Adam Mikal Gonsoulin of New Iberia.

Darla Jenie Simon
A daughter, Darla Jenie Simon, was born Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Abbeville General to Mr. and Mrs. Duston Joseph Simon of Erath.
The mother is the former Jessica Marie Trahan.

La Cattle Festival pageants scheduled, forms ready

The LA Cattle Festival is in search of young ladies of all ages and young men ages 0-4 to enter the pageants, to be held on September 7 and 8, 2019 at the Abbeville High Auditorium. Winners will reign over the festival weekend held October 10th thru 13th, 2019. There are age divisions for all to enter. We hope you can “Moove on Down” to Abbeville and join us!

Abbeville native’s performance at Brookshire Farm

A graduate of Abbeville High, Soprano Leanny Muñoz is currently a Ph.D. student in musicology at the University of California, Davis. On Friday evening, August 23, she performed with accompanist Sean Duggan, pianist at Brookshire Farm in Abbeville. Duggan is a monk of St. Joseph Abbey in Covington, Louisiana. He obtained his music degrees from Loyola University in New Orleans and Carnegie Mellon University, and received a master’s degree in theology from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. From 1988 to 2001 he taught music, Latin and religion at St.

The Energy Bus at Dozier Elementary-year of positive energy

This summer the book “The Energy Bus” by Jon Gordon made its way through the hands of a number of Vermilion Parish leaders and teachers. It focuses on ways to fuel positive energy with teams everywhere. With a bus cut out in place, Dozier Elementary Leaders Karla Toups, Susie Stephen, and Counselor Shelanne Richard welcomed their 2019-2020 faculty and staff with positive energy at their first in-house inservice on August 6, 2019. The bus cutout was enjoyed by all faculty and staff members.
