Wilda Ophelia Broussard

August 26, 1923 ~ June 23, 2024

ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Wilda Ophelia Broussard, 100, who died Sunday, June 23, 2024 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Reverend Paul Broussard officiating the services.
She is survived by her two sisters, Theresa Norma Sloan and Gleada Ann Broussard; sister-in-law, Bobbie Broussard; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie and Genevieve LaPlace Broussard; his brothers, Joseph “Bula” Broussard, Howard “Howie” Broussard and his wife Mildred, Huey Broussard and wife Lou, Mark Broussard and his wife, Venola, and Noe Raywood “Pedo” Broussard; his sisters Stella Broussard and her husband “Toupe,” and Hilda “Pip” Dufour and her husband Aaron; and family, Arnold “Pete” Lege, Stephanie Sagrera, Rowena Sagrera and her husband, Ralph, Buster Broussard and his wife, Jerry, Joseph F. Sloan, Sr., John H. Sloan, Jr., Keith Broussard, Abbie Broussard, Robert Broussard, and Barney Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church 300 Pere Megret St. Abbeville, LA on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. A rosary being prayed at 10 a.m.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Traditions Health who cared for her like family, Krista, Monica, Erica, Shalaya, Robin, Aaron, Alicia, Jessica, and Rob. A Special Thanks to Jennifer Lott for the love, compassion and care she has shown Wilda for the past 6 years. Special thank you to Ann Broussard and Mary Menard for helping care for Wilda. Again, we would like to thank all who called and checked on her on a regular basis. God Bless!

Daisy Alexis Magnon Meaux

October 29, 1949 - June 21, 2024

ABBEVILLE – Funeral Services for Mrs. Daisy Alexis Magnon Meaux, 74, will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at David Funeral Chapel of Abbeville with Pastor Ryan Johnson officiating.  A private interment will be held at a later day.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, beginning at 3:00 PM until time of services.
A native of Shreveport and a resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Meaux died at 2:02 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Ochsner of Lafayette.  Mrs. Alexis enjoyed raising birds, working with her plants, and especially enjoyed decorating for Christmas.  Mrs. Alexis met and influenced countless people while working at Abdallas in New Iberia, Bobby and Dot’s Catering, and the Kaplan Skating Rink.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Robert Ray Meaux of Abbeville; a daughter, Tonya White Suire and her husband Troy of Abbeville; two stepdaughters, Felicia Ralph and Dr. Rachelle Meaux; a brother, Maxie Magnon; two sisters, Dean Magnon and Janetta Magnon; five grandchildren, Tekoa Schexnider, Sage Schexnider, Canaan Schexnider, Jonah White, and Noah White; three step grandchildren, Spencer Montgomery, Garrett Montgomery, and Noah Ralph; and five great grandchildren, Emilee Schexnider, Lux Schexnider, Linc Schexnider, Wren White, and one on the way Emsley Schexnider.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Daisy Schexnayder Magnon; a brother, Jack Magnon; and a sister, Jonie Magnon.

February 3, 1948 ~ June 20, 2024

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Raymond Frederick, 76, who died Thursday, June 20, 2024. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Deacon William Vincent officiating the services.
Raymond was a graduate of Abbeville High School then entered the United States Air Force for four years. He was married to Suzan Callahan Frederick for 33 years. For employment he worked for American Eagle as a truck driver for over 30 years. He was a practical jokester always having a funny story to tell. He enjoyed being outdoors especially camping and doing woodworking, he also enjoyed Umpiring Little League Baseball for many years.
When he was diagnosed with cancer over 1 ½ years ago he told his family he rather it be him then a child.
He is survived by his son, Chad Allen Frederick and Brett Frederick; daughters, Lanetta Ann Frederick and Amanda Ann Frederick; twenty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and sisters, Yvonne Walton, Florence Hebert (Lee), Mary Joyce Peltier (Ullyess), and Gloria Ann Morton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzan Callahan Frederick; three sons, Corey James Frederick, Eric Jude Frederick, and Donald Joseh Frederick; parents, Augusta Frederick and the former Nola Guidry; brothers, Raywood Frederick and Reaux Frederick; and sisters, Mary Euna Comeaux and Audrey Mae Hale.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 9 a.m. until time of services. A rosary being prayed at 1:30 p.m.

Larry L. Lene

July 25, 1942 ~ June 18, 2024

ABBEVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Larry L. Lené, 81, at 2:00pm on Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. A recitation of the Rosary will begin at 1:30pm.
A native of Abbeville, Larry graduated from Mount Carmel and the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) and served in the Louisiana National Guard. For most of his professional life, he worked in nursing home administration. He had an incredibly strong Catholic faith and an incomparable sense of humor. He enjoyed playing golf, driving Corvettes, and riding motorcycles, and he had a lifelong love of music, movies, and sweets. His jovial nature, entertaining stories, and infectious laughter will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Sharran Hebert Lené; his daughter, Anne Katherine Lené and her husband, Jackson Moss; his sister-in-law, Rose Marie Boudreaux Hagle and her husband, Billy Ray Hagle; and many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pamela Margaret Leblanc Lené and Alcide Louis Lené; his sisters, Beverly Lené Doucet and her husband, Gabriel Doucet, and Barbara Lené Hebert and her husband, Robert Hebert; and his brother-in-law, Arthur “Artie” Boudreaux III.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 12:30 PM until time of service.
