Kaplan's Gabe Clement commits to run track for UCLA

KAPLAN — Kaplan High graduate Gabe Clement Jr. had his choice of running track at four major universities — LSU, TCU, UL and UCLA.
Three of the four have one thing in common — it is hot during track season.
The one university that is not hot during track season is where Clement decided he wanted to be for the next four years.
Clement committed to running track at UCLA, which is located in Los Angeles.
“The weather played a huge contribution,” said Clement. “It was perfect. They said this was how it was all year round.”

EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball Head Coach Jeff Willis has been announced as a member of the 2024 class of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Hall of Fame, the organization released on Wednesday. Willis will be honored at the ABCA Hall of Fame Banquet on January 5 in Dallas, Texas during the 80th ABCA Convention.

Northwestern State baseball coach Chris Bertrand praises family as reason for his success

In an era of roster turnover, new Northwestern State baseball coach Chris Bertrand showed during his introductory news conference Tuesday afternoon that he can rattle off names in rapid succession.
“This job is about the people,” Bertrand said in front of a crowded Stroud Room inside the Donald G. Kelly Fieldhouse. “The job requires it. Success requires it. This job is about the people, and it’s about more than a game. That’s why I chose to do it. The people in this room have made an impact on me, and I want to continue to try to make an impact on you.

North Vermilion All-Stars

North Vermilion baseball seniors Tyson LeBlanc (14) and Aiden Leonard (18) played for the West team in the LHSCA/LBCA All-Star Game on May 19 in Pineville. In Game 1, which the East won 12-11, Leonard pitched three innings, allowing one earned run and striking out six batters. LeBlanc went 2-for-3 for the West in the game.
