Miss Juneteenth pageant held in Abbeville

The Vermilion Parish NAACP#6276 Miss Juneteenth pageant was held June 4, 2023, at Faith Hope Christian Fellowship chaired by Mrs. Katrina Harris.
Saying goodbye to her reign was Vermilion Parish NAACP#6276 2022 Miss Juneteenth Alex'eia Bell.
This year the pageant was open to Middle School and High School students. That created categories for Miss Junior Juneteenth and Miss Juneteenth queens.

Congratulations to Nealy Atkins for winning the Betty W. Robbins award at AEC for Volunteer of the Year
Many women have graced Junior Auxiliary of Abbeville with their talents, heart and drive for service throughout the years. Several have gone beyond the call of Chapter requirements and have shown a level of commitment that far exceeds the standard. One name stands out—Nealy Atkins. Nealy is a second year Associate Member who is the epitome of service, community and leadership.

Woodlawn Players set to perform Boudreaux and Thibodeaux’s Wedding

The Woodlawn Players are set to perform their Cajun comedy musical “Boudreaux and Thibodeaux’s Wedding” at the Woodlawn Chapel on Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm June 16-17.. This is the 20th anniversary of the longest running Cajun comedy musical having played all over South Louisiana, including fundraisers for the French immersion program, and the Abbey Players infrastructure at sold out performances this past weekend.

Abbeville Mayor signs proclamation for Garden Club Week

At the request of the Abbeville Garden Club, Mayor Roslyn White signed a proclamation designating June 4 - 10, 2023, as National Garden Week in the City of Abbeville. Sponsored by National Garden Clubs, Inc., this is a special week designed to focus public attention on the programs, projects, and activities promoted by garden clubs.

Beef proclamation signed by Vermilion Parish Police Jury

The Vermilion Parish Cattlewomen’s Association, along with the reigning Queen, Thibodeaux, and 4-H Beef exhibitors, Isaac Duhon, Summit Saltzman, and Isabella Choate attended a Police Jury meeting requesting that the parish proclaim that Beef Month be celebrated in June.
Since it is the mission of the Cattlemen and Cattlewomen to support youth in beef education, the organization is here to encourage and support beef promotion and awareness.
