Richard Hebert, horticulturist and proprietor of Hebert’s Garden Center in New Iberia, was the program speaker at the Abbeville Garden Club Meeting on Jan. 16, 2023. AGC Vice-President of Programs Elizabeth Hollier presented a gift of appreciation to Mr. Hebert for his presentation concerning “Issues with Cold Weather for Plants in Our Landscape.”

Abbeville Garden Club holds first meeting of 2023

Abbeville Garden Club members held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Vermilion Parish LSU Ag Center. Beth Albertelly served as hostess of the event, with Jeanell Duhon and Joyce Thibodeaux serving as co-hostesses.
Horticulturist Richard Hebert, owner and proprietor of Hebert’s Garden Center in New Iberia, was the January Program Speaker. Hebert shared his knowledge and expertise concerning “Issues with Cold Weather for Plants in Our Landscape”.

You’ve had it if you attended Erath High School between 1968 and 2000. If you bought anything from the deli at Champagne’s Supermarket in Erath between 2000 & 2017, you’ve had it. You may have grabbed a taste of it while you were at visitation for Erath High’s homecoming.
What is it?
Made by one of the most well-known cooks in Vermilion Parish, it’s referred to as “Ms. Dot’s Rice Dressing.”

On Aug. 20, Bishop Douglas Deshotel recognized five remarkable individuals at the 2022 Pro-Life Rose Dinner.
Sylvia Putnam of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville was among the honorees.
“These individuals have said ‘yes’ to the pro-life movement in the Diocese of Lafayette through their commitment, dedication, and work in protecting the dignity of human life, according to the Diocese of Lafayette.

Abbey Players will present ‘Les Miserables’ in August

Abbey Players is set to present “Les Miserables” in August.
“Les Miserables,” based on Victor Hugo’s long novel, often has people wondering whether it is based on true events and people.
The whole tale is actually based on real figures and events in France from the revolution to its depiction of poverty and Jean Valjean’s struggle.
Jean Valjean is thought to have been based on Eugene Francois Vidoco, a reformed ex-convict who became the first director of French surety Nationale crime agency.
