Arrests Made After Shooting Incident in Vermilion Parish

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Eddie Langlinais, on December 31, 2021, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call of a shooting that occurred in the 300 block of Lover’s Lane, south of Abbeville.
When Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) detectives arrived on scene, they discovered two vehicles and a residence had been shot 14 times with a .22 caliber firearm.

Death threat allegedly made against Erath High teacher

ERATH - Erath Police Chief Anna LaPointe is investigating threats made at Erath High School.
On Tuesday, she got a tip from a school official that students heard one student telling another student that he planned to shoot up the school.
Then, while investigating that threat, Lapointe also learned of another threat made about a teacher at Erath High School.
Chief LaPointe said students learned of a group of students talking about murdering a teacher. LaPointe did not name the teacher, but the teacher is aware of the students’ alleged threat made on her life.

Sheriff's Office, Wildlife and Fisheries rescue three teens in Vermilion Bay

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents and Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office (VPSO) deputies rescued three boys from Vermilion Bay Friday morning.

LDWF agents were alerted around 6 a.m. about a capsized vessel in Vermilion Bay with two seventeen-year-old boys and an 18-year-old clinging to the vessel.

By a vote of 4-3, the Vermilion Parish School Board named a replacement school board member for the vacant seat in District B.
Two names nominated were Angela Lee Bradley and Kevin Meyers.
Both have lived in the North Vermilion area for at least six years.
The school board members voted by writing down their selection on paper, and then they had to sign the document.
Superintendent Tommy Byler read each ballot and who voted for that person.
Bradley won by one vote.

Abbeville Police warn about catalytic converters being stolen off vehicles

If one morning when you start your vehicle and it sounds like your vehicle no longer has a muffler and it runs rough, the odds are someone stole your catalytic converter from under your vehicle.
The Abbeville Police Department sent out a public notice informing Abbeville citizens to be aware of catalytic converter thefts in different parts of Abbeville.
