Colt Hardee

Hardee named Undergraduate Student Leader of the Year at LSU

Kaplan High School graduate Colt Hardee received LSU’s Undergraduate Student Leader of the Year award at the annual Love Purple Live Gold Awards Banquet this month.
Hardee, 20, is an LSU sophomore who is majoring in Agribusiness. He is also president of The Agribusiness Club. The Club was also named LSU’s Student Organization of the Year.

Some up, some down in most recent Vermilion Parish sales tax report

February proved to be an up-and-done month for sales tax collection in Vermilion Parish.
Overall for the parish, sales tax collected in February totaled $2,852,161.97, 7% less than the $3,048,524.43 from February 2018.
The Village of Maurice enjoyed a good month. In February, Maurice brought in $50,650.62. That is a 21% spike form the previous year.
The Town of Delcambre saw a 14.8% bump, going from $11,781.62 in ‘18, to $13,524.66 this year.

Vermilion Municipal, Sheriff’s Task Force arrest three for drug offenses

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force made the following arrests for narcotics related offenses within the parish.
Keevie Spriggs, 30, of Abbeville, arrested for possession of marijuana, and possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule II narcotic (Hydrocodone)
On April 12, agents executed a search warrant on 2927 Cypress St, Abbeville La.

Charles Campbell Ave.: Former Abbeville school board member gets street named after him

Friends and family gathered around the corner of Charity and Oliver Streets in Abbeville on Monday for the renaming of Oliver Street to S. Charles Campbell Avenue.
The renaming comes shortly after Campbells’ children came together after speaking with Mayor Mark Piazza as well as other city officials with signatures of residents along Oliver Street allowing them to rename the road after their father.
Mayor Mark Piazza opened the small ceremony with a certificate; given to the family, in honor of their father and family member Charles Campbell.

Harvest Time Academy names new assistant principal: Janie LeBlanc

Harvest Time Christian Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Janie LeBlanc as the new assistant principal.
Pastor Steve Delino, the HTCA Board and Principal Michelle Rupert made the hiring official at the beginning of April. LeBlanc will begin her tenure in August.
Pastor Steve Delino said, “HTCA is a vital part of our church’s vision and mission to our community. We are confident that Janie will be a leader that will be an integral part of continuing the strong connection between our church and school”.
