To the residents of Maurice, I, Kelly Broussard Hardy, would like to announce my candidacy for the office of Chief of Police for the Village of Maurice. I worked in law enforcement for the past 26 years, having retired in January 2018 with the State of Louisiana, Department of Corrections, Office of Probation and Parole. I have extensive training in investigative writing, courtroom testimony, defensive tactics training, tactical training, first aid/CPR and firearms training.

It is with great honor that I announce my candidacy for the office of Chief of Police for the City of Maurice in the November 2018 election. My wife, Kathryn, and I have been married for three years, and have three sons Gage (18), Hudson (2) and Hayes (6 months). I was born and raised in Rayne, Louisiana and have lived in Maurice for the last 12 years. I consider Maurice my home and plan to spend the rest of my life here.

Hi, I am Michael (Mike) Richard and I am running for the Erath City Council in the upcoming November election. I was born and raised in Erath. Graduated from Erath High School. I have two years of college in Business Administration. I am member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. I was a Volunteer Fireman for the Erath Fire Dept. for 20 years, a member of the Erath Backers Club for 15 years. I coached Erath Little League for 9 years.
I worked for Coastal Chemical Company as an inventory controller and also Facility Manager and Purchasing manager for Wilkinson Technologies.

Citizens receive closer look at Abbeville Streetscaping project

During Thursday’s open house meeting, the Abbeville City Council answered questions from the public regarding the latest proposed LA-14 Downtown Abbeville Streetscaping project.
Plans for the project include replacing the existing sidewalks, which one resident agrees should be done.
“It has been a long time since improvements have been done, but what I would like to see added are many more handicap ramps installed sparingly around the vicinity of the proposed facelift areas,” said one resident who attended the meeting.
