Since becoming executive director of the Vermilion Economic Development Alliance (VEDA) in late 2014, Anne Falgout and 15 volunteer members of the board have worked to bring business and growth to Vermilion Parish.
With ‘18 in the review, Falgout spoke last week to members of the Kiwanis Club of Abbeville about some of the things this year has in store. Falgout said meeting with groups like the Kiwanis Club helps create a better view of what the community needs.
The school system, in “The Most Cajun Place on Earth,” has taken a step to keep the French language alive. Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, Vermilion Parish will be home to the state’s newest French Immersion Education classroom!
Soon after the Vermilion Parish School Board approved the motion in April of 2018, the curriculum department began the task of determining which school would become “L’école d’immersion française.”
After multiple meetings and numerous conversations, it was decided that the school best suited for French Immersion was LeBlanc Elementary.
It’s a new year and the board of Vermilion Economic Development Alliance is excited about its plan for 2019. To help provide vision and direction for the staff and programming is the organization’s 15-member board representing Vermilion Parish cities, towns, and government organizations as well as the Chamber of Commerce.
