One does not have to look too far when it comes to reasons why the Kaplan Pirates need to get pumped up to the play the Abbeville High Wildcats in Kaplan.
On Friday, the Wildcats (1-7) travel to Kaplan to battle the Pirates (4-4), who are on a three-game winning streak.
On paper, it does not look like there is much for the two teams to play for. Look harder, however.

The Vermilion Catholic Eagles (7-1) leaped from No. 4 of last week to No. 1 this week in the latest Division IV power ratings.
The reason for the leap was because they played and beat Centerville, who had six wins, so the Eagles’ power rating went up.
Do not be surprised if VC falls to No. 2 or No. 3 next week because the Eagles are playing Covenant Christian, who only has two wins.
The Eagles overtook Opelousas Catholic (7-1) who dropped to No. 2. Ascension Catholic (8-0) is No. 3 and Southern Lab (4-3) is No. 4.
The top 16 make the Division IV playoffs.
