Kaplan Lady Pirates are Sulphur bound

KAPLAN — The No. 1 Kaplan Lady Pirates defeated the No.8 French Settlement Lady Lions 10-6 on Friday to advance to the Division III (Non-Select) semifinals held in Sulphur.
The Lady Pirates (29-2) will play No. 5 Doyle who beat No.4 Sterlington to advance. Game time is set for noon on Friday at the North Frasch Softball Complex.

Kaplan Pirates reach quarterfinals, will trave to face Westlake

KAPLAN — The No. 5 Kaplan Pirates won game two 4-3 over the No. 12 Caldwell Parish Spartans at Gabe Manuel Memorial Field on Friday to complete the sweep and advance to the Division III (Non-Select) quarterfinals.
The Pirates (21-12) will be on the road for round three as they will face the No 4 Westlake Rams (24-10). Head coach Jake Faulk thinks his team has a shot because they’re hot at the right time.
“Westlake is good,” Faulk said. “They’re four and we’re five, but we’ve beat some teams that have beat them. They are beatable.

North Vermilion Patriots beat Iota, move to quarterfinals

IOTA – The No. 9 North Vermilion Patriots advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Division II (Non-Select) playoffs by defeating the No. 8 Iota Bulldogs 5-0 on Friday and 7-2 on Saturday.
The Patriots (20-15) will travel to No. 1 Brusly with a return trip to Sulphur on the line. Game one will be on Thursday at 6 p.m. Game two will start at 6 p.m. on Friday. If necessary, game three will commence at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

North Vermilion Lady Pats fall in quarters

NAPOLEONVILLE – The No.11North Vermilion Lady Patriots’ playoff run ended Friday as they fell to the Assumption Lady Mustangs 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Division II (Non-Select) playoffs.
The Lady Pats (13-15) surrendered all four runs on one swing in the bottom of the first inning. After a walk, an error, and a single loaded the bases, Lilia Alleman hit a grand slam over the left field wall.

Kaplan Pirates dominate in game one versus Caldwell Parish

KAPLAN – The No. 5 Kaplan Pirates kicked off their second-round playoff series against the No. 12 Caldwell Parish Spartans with a dominating 11-1, six-inning victory Thursday at Gabe Manuel Memorial Field.
Kaplan (20-12) sent right hander Sabe David to the mound. The junior hurler struck out 11 en route to a complete game, two-hitter.
“It was a good team win overall,” David said. “It’s easy to pitch when your team hits the ball and gives you the lead from jump.”
