Kaplan softball player selected to play in All-American game

Kennedy Marceaux, 17, received word that she will be playing with and against the best of the best high school softball players in the country.
Marceaux, who is going to be a junior at Kaplan High School, was selected to play the Future All-American Game 2022 in Irvine, California.
The game is July 30 and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
The game features the best sophomores against the best juniors in the country.
Marceaux will play as a sophomore. She is the first Vermilion Parish player to make the team.

World Series Champions: Team Louisiana 11U win wild 12 inning marathon

The Team Louisiana 11 and under baseball team, based out of Erath, captured a wild one in the finals of the USSSA Global World Series title.
Team Lousiana took 12 innings to beat the Sulphur Warriors, 12-9, to claim the title.
The game lasted three hours and forty-five minutes in the 98-degree temperature.
It was also the third game Team Louisiana played that day.
Team Louisiana was down 7-2 after the first two innings.

PINTO TOURNEY RUNNER-UP

This past weekend, the QSA 8-and-under All-Stars from Erath and Abbeville finished as the 2022 South Zone Pinto Super Region Tournament at the Youngsville Sports Complex and will play in the Pinto World Series starting July 20 in Youngsville. Ossie Blaize Decides to retire after 52 years in education

Ossie Blaize coached at schools from Mississippi to New Orleans and southwest Louisiana in a career that spanned more than five decades.
Blaize and wife Debbie, who will celebrate their 25th anniversary in February, plan to stay in Abbeville after the longtime coach and teacher retired last month at the end of the school year. With knee and heart issues he’s dealing with, it was just time to retire, he felt.
“I started in 1970, so it’s been a long time,” Blaize said. “Sooner or later your body and your mind say, ‘It’s enough.’

Erath dominates 6-3A All-District, including player & coach of year

Erath High School dominated the coaches’ selections for the All-District 6-3A baseball team after winning the league title with an 8-2 record, including capturing the league’s top individual honors.
Freshman pitcher Seth Leger was the Player of the Year, while Jeremy Picard was Coach of the Year.
Five other Bobcats were named to the first team — junior catcher Trevor Huval, senior third baseman Coy Broussard, outfielder Brett Suire (Sr.) and utility players Sage Suire (Jr.), Ethan Sanfilippo (Jr.) and Thomas Collins (So.).
