DELCAMBRE – The Delcambre Lady Panthers volleyball team has a new head coach and it’s a familiar face.
Darcel Delcambre Robin is the daughter of long time Delcambre High School coach, Darcy Delcambre. She graduated from Delcambre High School in 1999. She was a track and field standout, winning six state championships in the two mile. She’s also the head girls’ track coach.
After high school, Robin earned her degree in elementary education. She became an elementary school teacher. She was content for 16 years until, at age 38, life threw her a curveball.

 As the Lady Eagles volleyball program prepares for its second season, Vermilion Catholic has named Kristin Son its new head coach.
Son arrives at VC after 12 years at Vandebilt Catholic in Houma.  She led the Terriers volleyball program for seven years before taking 10 years off to raise her children. She returned five years ago and coached eighth and ninth-grade volleyball when her family decided to move to Youngsville.

Abbeville Councilwoman Terry Broussard is trading in her political hat for a fundraising hat to support a worthy cause. She has joined the fundraising team for local athlete Brylee Batiste. 
Brylee Batiste is a powerlifter from Abbeville High School who won the National Championship in Austin, Texas, earlier this year. After her win, she was invited to join the United States Powerlifting Team. 
They will compete in St. Paul’s Bay, Malta, in the fall. Traveling to Malta will require financial backing to cover the cost of the trip, lodging, and food.
