Gulf Coast Bank stuns Lafayette Drillers

LAFAYETTE – The Gulf Coast Bank 29ers went on the road Thursday night and defeated the reigning American Legion state champions, the Lafayette Drillers, 11-10 in nine innings.
GCB (5-4) jumped ahead early, lost the lead, tied the game late, and then won it in extra innings.  This is their third come-from-behind victory this season.
“That’s just who we are,” 29ers head coach Trey DeRouen said.  “Baseball is a game like no other.  You can’t ride the clock or take a knee.  You have to finish the game.  These guys understand this, and they play until the final out.”
