Erath dominates 5-3A All-District First Team

After winning their fifth-consecutive district championship, the Erath Bobcats dominated the 2024 5-3A All-District Team with nine first team selections, three second team selections, and one honorable mention selection.
Bobcats’ junior pitcher and infielder Seth Leger captured Player of the Year honors while Erath skipper Jeremy Picard won Coach of the Year.
Also landing on the first team for Erath were pitcher Braxton Richard, catcher Brennan Broussard, short stop Thomas Collins, and second baseman Dominic Frederick.

Three North Vermilion players land on 1st team 4-4A All-District Team

Fresh off their state championship game appearance, the North Vermilion Patriots landed 13 players on the District 4-4A all-district team.  
NV placed three on the first team, five on the second team, and five on the honorable mention team.
Landing on the first team are pitcher Blaze Duhon (2-2 in district), catcher Cody Breaux (.379 average) and Colton Jeansonne as a utility player.

Eight apply for Abbeville High head football coaching job

The search for a new head football coach at Abbeville High School has completed its first stage, which involved accepting applications.
According to Marc Turner, the assistant superintendent of the Vermilion Parish School System, eight applicants submitted their applications by noon on Monday, which was the final day to apply.
Turner stated that he could not release the names of the applicants, and he was unsure of how many of them were certified teachers.

ERATH — Retirement often offers the excitement of a new chapter but accompanies the bittersweet feeling of leaving a place or people you love.
One quote for those retiring or moving says, "You never really leave a person or place you love. Part of them you take with you, and you leave part of yourself behind." Coach Tommie Pillette is the prime example of someone feeling both.

Abbeville High football coach leaves to accept North Vermilion head football job

Roderick Moy, who spent four years in building Abbeville High School’s football team into a powerhouse, is now set to take on a new challenge.
He aims to replicate his success at North Vermilion High School, where he was recently named the new head football coach. After interviewing last Friday, he was offered and accepted the position.
The search began for a new NVHS head football coach when Joe Heintz stepped down in April. Heintz is returning to Teurlings High School after only one year at North Vermilion.
