Kaplan's Marceaux named Louisiana Gatorade Softball Player of the Year

CHICAGO — In its 39th year of honoring the nation’s most elite high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Kennedy Marceaux of Kaplan High School is the 2023-24 Gatorade Louisiana Softball Player of the Year.
Marceaux is the first Gatorade Louisiana Softball Player of the Year to be chosen from Kaplan High School.
The award, which celebrates the nation’s top high school athletes for excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community, distinguishes Marceaux as Louisiana’s best high school softball player.

Kevin Kern new head football coach at Gueydan High

After two years as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator, Kevin Kern is the new head football coach at Gueydan.
Over 24 years as a coach in the parish, Kern has coached at VC, North Vermilion, Abbeville, and Gueydan.  He was a head football coach at VC, Abbeville, and now Gueydan.
Kevin Kern is brimming with enthusiasm for his new role.  He is optimistic about the potential of the program and the support of the community, which he believes will be instrumental in the team’s success.

Abbeville High hires former LSU player as its new head football coach

Abbeville High School’s new head football coach has been mentored by the best college football coach of all time, one of the top high school football coaches in Louisiana, and several NFL assistant football coaches.
Abbeville High Principal Phillip Freeman announced that he hired Jonathan Zenon as the school’s new head coach. 
Zenon graduated from Breaux Bridge High School in the early 2000s and helped lead the Tigers to the quarterfinal round in the playoffs under former Breaux Bridge coach Mike Mowad.
