An Abbeville woman faces multiple charges after police found her infant alone in a car while she went shopping.
On June 27, at approximately 6 p.m., patrol officers with the Abbeville Police Department responded to a complaint of an infant child being left alone in a locked vehicle at Walmart.
BREAUX BRIDGE – Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on June 26, 2019, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single vehicle crash on LA Hwy 341 near Armond Joseph Road in St. Martin Parish. The crash ultimately took the life of 38-year-old Ryan Shrimpf of Arnaudville.

On June 25, at approximately 9:17 p.m., patrol officers of the Abbeville Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of LA Hwy. 14 (Veterans Memorial Drive) and Alphonse Street for a vehicle crash in which a motorcycle was struck by a pick-up truck.
The caller stated that after the crash, the truck fled the scene.

Vermilion Parish Farm Bureau Federation members and guests attended the 97th Annual La. Farm Bureau Convention June 20-23, at the Marriott in New Orleans.

There was some positive news that came out of last week’s school board meeting that dealt with the children of Vermilion Parish.
The school board overwhelmingly voted to bring back the summer work program for a few weeks this summer, and the board also gave the OK for the Abbeville Rotary Club to apply for grants in hopes of converting the old post office into a new, larger virtual school.
